Answer the following questions:

1. What do the acronyms DACA and MAVNI stand for?
2. What qualifications must an illegal immigrant meet if he / she is to be eligible for the MAVNI program?
3. What worry does the "defense official" voice about the limitations of those applying for the program?
4. In the last thirteen years, how many immigrants have become US citizens while serving in the US military?
5. Other than the Army, how heavily does the nation's military branches rely on the DACA program for recruiting?
6. Do you agree or disagree with the policy of letting immigrants who have not obtained citizenship status serve in the military and undergo an expedited process to gain citizenship?  Why do you feel this way?

    2. The optimal amount of time is two to twenty minutes.
    3. Evolution plays an important role as it shows that humans only need to socialize for certain amounts of time. We evolved this way for a reason.
    4. I put enough "stock"vp in this article to expound on the topic. I agree. It is detrimental to spend to much time together. For example, the more a couple is together, the more time that gives for problems to happen. Marriage is also a scam. Most people cannot commit for four weeks, let alone four years, fourteen years, or forty years. So, concluding, Mark Hughson definitely has a point because I also get tired of seeing everybody face.

    1. DACA- Deferred Action for Child Arrivals
MAVNI- Military Accessions in the National Interest
    2. Immigrants with language skills critical to national security.
    3. They're worried that the people wouldn't have the linguistic skills to qualify.
    4. 92,000
    5. The Air Force accepts a few from the programs, but the Navy and Marine Corps have not sought many recruits over the years.
    6. I definitely think they should be able to fight in the military in order to gain citizenship. When it comes to the military, you can't have too much help. They deserve a chance to become part of the US, and what better way to show that desire then to fight for our country.

    1. The acronym DACA stands for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals. The acronym MAVNI stands for Military Accessions in the National Interest
    2. An illegal immigrant qualifies for MAVNI if he/she does not have a proper visa when they came to the U.S. with their parents before the age of 16. They must also be approved under the 2012 Obama policy, DACA.
    3. The "defense official" worries that if these immigrants came to the U.S. at a young age, then they might not know a lot or enough of their native tongue, because they would have spoken English at school or with friends.
    4. In the last thirteen years ninety-two thousand immigrants have become citizens while serving in the U.S. military.
    5. The nation's military branches does not truly rely on the DACA program. Other than the Army, the Air Force has accepted only a few. The Navy and Marine Corps have not sought any recruits recently.
    6. I agree that immigrants should be allowed to gain citizenship while in the military. I believe this because they are taking initiative to gain citizenship and fight for our country, which is not theirs. More than likely these recruits came here with their parents for pull factors for jobs. They actually appreciate our country and they have decided to fight for it, so they deserve the opportunity to become a legal U.S. citizen.

    3. that some will not have enough language skills

    5. The nation's military branches do not rely on DACA very much. A few have been recruited for the Air Force, but none for Marines Corps or Navy.
    6. I agree, because if those people are willing to risk their lives to protect the country, then they should definitely be granted citizenship.

    2. They would have to come with their parents to the US before 16. They would have to be approved under the 2012 DACA law.

    3. They don't think they have the communication skills to speak English to the other members.

    4. 92000

    5. Not at all only the Air Force has accepted a few but they have not heavily recruited.

    6. Well Idk if it is a good idea because you could have people from other countries to try to betray the USA so I dont agree.

    2. They must have come to the US with their parents before the age of 16, and They must be approved under the 2012 Obama administration policy known as DACA.
    3. They worry how many within the population of DACA would have sufficient linguistic skills to qualify. Many of the kids have grown up in the US so that limits the langauage talent that they have learned. Most of the language received was at home.
    4. 92,000 immigrants have become US citizens while serving in the US military.
    5. The Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps do not heavily rely on the DACA program for recruits, if at all. Only very few have been recruited.
    6. I do not agree with the policy of allowing immigrants who have not obtained citizenship status to serve in the military. I believe they can be very useful once they have gotten citizenship, but I think they military should require a citizenship first to make sure the immigrants can be trusted. I think by requiring a citizenship, they will be faithful to the US and can be trusted and be able to rely on them. I believe that if you do not required a citizenship, then the immigrant could put the country in danger.

    1. The acronyms DACA and MAVNI mean Deferred Action for Child Arrivals and Military Asseccions in the National Interests, respectively.
    2. The qualifications illegal immigrants must meet if they are to be eligible for the MAVNI program are if they don't have a visa but they came to the U.S. with their parents before age 16, are approved under DACA, and have foreign language skills or specialized health care training.
    3. The worry the "defense official" voices about immigrants limitations applying for the program is the immigrants not having qualifying linguistic skills.
    4. In the last thirteen years, 92,00 immigrants have become U.S. citizens while serving in the U.S. military.
    5. The nations military branches don't rely heavily on the DACA program for recruiting, and they only have recruited few to none in recent years.
    6. I think it's a win/lose situation. On the positive side, we are gaining people to fight for our country and help support our military expeditions; but on the negative side, it's unfair for other immigrants who have been trying to attain U.S. citizenship and are unable to fight in the military.

DACA- Deferred Action for Child Arrivals
MAVNI- Military Accessions in the National Interest

For immigrants without a proper visa that came to the USA with their parents before they were 16.

They do not know if they are proficient in that language because the only lived in that country for less than 16 years.

92,000 immigrants have become citizens while serving in the military.

About 5,000 people per year that are mostly green-card holders.

I disagree 100%. The military is for the people of America to serve in not for illegal immigrants because our citizens are too lazy to serve. Illegal immigrants have done something illegal in this country so they should be punished like a citizen would, not rewarded with a job and citizenship.

    3. They may not be as fluent in their ancestral language as much as the military requires.
    4. approximately 92,000
    5. The Air Force has only accepted a few using the program and the Navy and Marine Corps have taken none, so they don't really use it at all.
    6. If they want to fight for our country even though theyre not legally a citizen then they should go for it. maybe they are having trouble obtaining their citizenship but they still consider America their home and want to help protect it. I believe this because you don't know other people's situations and they deserve the right to fight for our country since they have lived here long enough to know what we're about, and also they have crucial skills that are valued in the military so this seems to be the only option.

    1) DACA- Deferred Action for Child Arrival; MAVNI- Military Accessions in the National Interest
    2) It is open to immigrants without the the proper visa if they came to the U.S. with their parents before age 16.
    3) That some immigrants will have no linguistic skills to qualify; that most of the kids that enter the U.S. at a very young age have limited languages because they will be more use to the language they speak at home.
    4) 92,000
    5) Not much because the other branches have rarely had any recruits from DACA.
    6) Yes, I do feel like they should go to the military and have expedited process to gain citizenship. I feel this way because even though America is a free country the citizens that are here have worked for things that are way harder than gaining a citizenship. So for those going through the military and expedited processes to get citizenship, it will just show them that it is hard work to gain something in America.

    6. Agree in a sense. Not many should be sought out, but only if needed. There is a bigger problem: How come there are so many illegal immigrants in America? We should offer them something like this: Serve in the military for a certain amount of time and pass the citizenship test and woolah! you're a citizen or go through a process that will take longer but no military service.

1.) DACA stands for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals, and MANVNI stands for
Military Accessions in The National interest
2.) Requirements for this program include that immigrants must have come to the United States before the age of 16 and they are required to pass a background check and have some grasp on a foreign language.
3.) They feel that half of the people applying for this program are illegally qualifying and are taking jobs away from people legally qualifying. They also expressed that there may not be enough linguistic skills in this field to benefit the military.
4.) More than 92,000 immigrants have become citizens through working in the military.
5.) The air force occasionally uses the DACA for recruitment but the Marine Corps has not sought there help for several years
6.) I feel it is a good way for immigrants to become engulfed in American culture and help our country with their different backgrounds. Although they could be taking away possible money for legal citizens which I don't agree with, having different cultural backgrounds in our military could better improve communication skills and help us in the long run when opposed by foreign powers so I think it is a good program if conducted correctly.

    5. People who aren’t born in America should NOT be able to serve. They are not citizens why should they have to right to serve in the military. Our president doesn't understand that you can’t trust everybody and how are we supposed to trust them if they aren't even U.S. citizens. It is outrageous that you would even come up with the idea that anybody who wants to join our military army can. What if we go to war with the country they are from? They could turn on us. Just like when the American army went to train the Iraqi army and they turned on us and killed Americans for us trying to help them learn how to defend themselves. That could easily happen they could leak information about our military to other countries and it could cause a lot of problems. Our country is not what it used to be. My opinion is that if you want to serve in our military and you aren't documented then no. If you want to be in our military then gain citizenship. Just like a president shouldn't be from another country and run for president.

There is a possibility that they could come over from a country we are battling and try to manipulate our military. There are tons of negative things that can happen if illegal immigrants are able to reside in the US and serve in our military. However, that is unfair because I am sure there are immigrants who are perfectly sane and wonderful who do not want to hurt the US or our government/military at all and because of the negative possibilities it makes it hard to want to allow them to reside here illegally. I am stuck in the middle on the subject.

1.) Deferred Action for Child Arrivals. & Military Accessions in the National Interest.
2.) Have a visa and a highly valued skill, like a foreign language of Chinese.
3.) The Pentagon is capped at 1,500 recruits and it's unclear as to how many of those are illegal immigrants.
4.) 92,000 foreign born service members.
5.) Only the Air Force has recruited some. The Navy and Air Force don't recruit through MAVNI.
6.) I agree with it. If you want to serve the country you're going to live in then you should be able to and get a citizenship faster than other foreign borns, because you serve.

    1. DACA- Deferred Action for Child Arrivals
MAVNI- Military Accessions in the National Interest

    2. The illegal immigrant must meet the approved under a 2012 Obama administration policy known as DACA and came to the US with their parents before the age of 16 in order to be illegible for the MAVNI program.

    3. The "defense official" worries that the kids who entered the country at a fairly young age would not have the linguistic skills to qualify for the program.

    4. 92,000+ immigrants have became US citizens while serving in the US military.

    5. The Army has been the only service to accept a significant number of recruits under the program but the Air Force has accepted only a few in recent years.

    6. I do agreed with the policy because American citizens do not know how hard it is for immigrants to obtained citizenship in order for them to serve in the military. Not only does the immigrants need to know history facts about America, they also need the money in order to take the exams and those people don't have the time and money to do it. If they got approved under the DACA and came with linguistic skills, let them serve in the military. If American were to travel to another country and wanted to serve in their military, they would think back and agreed that immigrants do not need to obtained citizenship to serve in the military because they would not want to take the citizenship exams.

    1. DACA stands for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals. MAVNI stands for Military Accessions in the National Interest.
    2. Come to the U.S with parents before age 16, approved under a 2012 Obama Administration policy known as DACA
    3. They're not sure how many within that existing population of DACA would have the linguistic skills to qualify
    4. 92,000
    5. The Air Force has accepted only a few and the Marine Corps and Navy have not sought any.
    6. I disagree because it is against the law to enter the country without a Visa or passport. Another reason is if a person has not taken the time and effort has not EARNED the right to become an American citizen. If one fights for his or her country, and serves in the U.S military but is not a citizen of our country, than who are they fighting for? That person then gains valuable information about our military. They could also do lots of damage to our country with their access to military equipment.

    1. DACA stands for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals and MAVNI stands for Military Accessions in the National Interest.
    2. He/she must have come to the country with his/her parents before the age of 16 and must be approved under the policy DACA.
    3. He is not sure how many DACA applicants will actually have the qualifying linguistic skills they are looking for because a majority of the applicants have grown up in the U.S. for a majority of ther life.
    4. Around 92,000 have become citizens.
    5. They do not rely on the DACA program very much because they have accepted little to no MAVNI recruits.
    6. I agree with the policy because if someone has an ability that will benefit the country's defense in any way, they should be allowed to serve. Since they serve in defending the country, it is only fair that they be allowed to become citizens.

2.They must be approved under Deferred Action for Child Arrivals, or DACA.

    4.92,000
    5. Not many.
    6. I agree that immigrants should gain citizenship if they love the country enough to join a branch of the military and risk their safety to become a citizen. Most American citizens don't do anything and only become American citizens through birth.

    2. They need a visa if they came to America before 16 and approved under the DACA policy.
3.How qualified they will be for the job.
    4.92,000
5.Not very reliant. Other branches such as airforce and marines have only accepted a few of the immigrants.
    6. We should let them obtain citizenship if they have fought for our country then they are probably more of a citizen in defending our freedom then some one who was born here. Before they should be able to join though there should not only be correct documentation but also a background check to ensure they are here and are fighting for America not spying for another country.

    5. very highly
    6. I agree, because these immigrants may not be good at a lot of things but fighting in wars is probably the only thing they are good at.

    2. They have to come to the United States with a parent at the age of 16 and be approved under the DACA policy.
    3. They are worried they will not be qualified enough.
    4. About 92,000 have become citizens
    5. The army does not rely on the DACA very much.
    6. I do not agree. If they are not a U.S. citizen yet, they should not be allowed to join the army. They could abuse the power of being in the army and turn against the U.S. while fighting.

    4. Ninety-two thousand immigrants have become citizens while serving in the military.
    5. The Navy, the Marines, and the Air Force do not rely heavily on the recruitment of immigrants.
    6. I agree, because if someone feels strongly enough about a country to fight for it, or even to use their skills in a non-combatant position, then they should be allowed to become citizens of that country.

    2) to be apart of MAVNI they have to be approved by DACA and have come to the us before they were 16.
    3) they are afraid they wouldn't have the language skills needed.
    4) 92,000 foreign service men have become citizens.
    5) they do not rely heavily on it the marines and navy have only accepted a few.

    1. MANVI stands for Military Assecions in The National Interests and DACA stands for Deffered Action for Child Arrivals.
    2. If the illegal immigrant came with their parents under the age of 16 years old and have a proper VISA and also must be approved under the DACA.
    3. That they will not have proper language skills or be able to communicate with others for necessary means.
    4. 92,000
    5. Mostly all, except for airforce and marine which have only accepeted a few, do not get their recruits from DACA.
    6. I agree that immigrants willing to risk their life and fight for a country not of their own should have the opportunity of being granted citizenship. Not only do the immigrants not have citizenship of the country while fighting for it they do it because they wish to be apart of the great country and fight for what they believe is right.
