It was good to see almost everyone back safely today from Monday's storms!  I hope that everyone can be back and 100% by tomorrow!

AP Language and Composition
Students received several grades back, including the last rhetorical analysis that they wrote.  We then spent time in class going over their essays and how they can improve their essay scores:

Homework:  Students need to finish Jesusland by tomorrow (Thursday, May 1).

We spent time in class going over our grammar quizzes in class today.

We continued our study of Shakespeare in class today.

Homework:  Students must memorize the first twelve lines of The Canterbury Tales in Middle English by Monday, May 5.

Students wrote an analytical essay based on the premises of Animal Farm in class today.

Pre-AP English 9 (5th)
After finishing our discussion of visual analysis, we began discussing Shakespeare in preparation for reading Romeo and Juliet.

Homework:  Students need to obtain their copy of Romeo and Juliet as quickly as possible and bring it with them to class. Any edition of the play is acceptable, as long as it is in the original language, including the free editions offered on many tablet devices.

Students took their Word of the Day and Animal Farm quiz in class today.

Homework:  Students need to study back over Animal Farm and their Animal Farm PowerPoint notes in preparation for an assignment that they will be given on Monday.

Pre-AP English 9 (5th)
Students took their Word of the Day quiz in class today.  Afterwards, we finished talking about visual rhetoric before starting our study of William Shakespeare in preparation for reading Romeo and Juliet.

Homework:  If they have not done so already, students need to obtain their copy of Romeo and Juliet and bring it with them to class every day.

Then, USING THE CONCESSION-COUNTERARGUMENT MODEL, politely debate the topic at hand, providing examples of why you believe your viewpoint to be correct.  Note: If you do not use the concession-counterargument model, you will not receive credit for this post.
