AP Language and Composition
We backtracked a little bit today to review the different kinds of organizational patterns that authors use when they write.  We then read through Cherokee Paul McDonald's essay "A View from the Bridge" and begin annotating it.

Homework:  Students should finish annotating McDonald's essay and write a thesis answering how McDonald uses rhetorical strategies to create appeals in his essay.

Pre-AP English 9
Students took time in class today to self-edit their "TKAM Unit Test-Part 2" essays.

Homework:  Students need to finish editing and rewriting their essays.  They also need to obtain their copies of A Separate Peace and Of Mice and Men by September 30.

Advanced English 9
Students finished watching To Kill a Mockingbird in class today, before talking about characterization and voice in the novel.  Then, they began reading through James Hurst's "The Scarlet Ibis."

Homework:  Students need to finish editing and rewriting their article essays that they received yesterday.  They also need to obtain their copies of A Separate Peace and Dirt Road Home by September 30.
