AP Language and Composition
We watched and annotated President Kennedy's "Inaugural Address" in class today.  Students then wrote a thesis and paragraph analyzing the speech.

Homework:  Students should look at the website http://americanrhetoric.com/rhetoricaldevicesinsound.htm to help study and learn the different types of rhetorical devices that this class requires them to know. They also need to finish annotating JFK's inaugural address and writing their paragraph discussing his use of rhetorical strategies.

Pre-AP English 9
Students self-edited their Summer Reading essays in class today, before watching a little bit of the To Kill a Mockingbird movie.

Homework:  Students need to finish editing and re-writing their summer reading essay and their essay from the second part of the TKAM unit test.  They also need to obtain their copies of A Separate Peace and Of Mice and Men by September 30.

Advanced English 9
In today's class, students began reading and annotating James Hurst's "The Scarlet Ibis," looking for specific examples of personification, simile, and metaphor.

Homework:  Students need to obtain their copies of A Separate Peace and Dirt Road Home by September 30.
