  1. noah barnette- there have been kenyan teroists who have been killing people in a Kenyan shopping mall. the death toll is at 68.

I don't think that we need to help Kenya. just let them do what they are doing because it said in the passage "this remains an operation of the Kenya security agencies." and that if anyone helps it wont be pretty.

al queda took over a mall in kenya... where many people were held hostage, an estimated 15 people with fire arms made any escape seem impossible. kenya's president said that when he captures the people in charge of the invasion of the mall their punishment will be very painful. a group of people hid in a womens restroom to be not nonticed by the invaders. 68 people were found dead. 10 estimated are still being held hostage.

  3. The terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Kenya shot up a mall and are still holding about 10 hostages. Though American citizens were among the wounded, the U.S. has no right to intervene. The U.S. needs to let the Kenyan authorities sort it out.

  4. On Sunday, a horrific attack occured in a Nairobi mall in Kenya. The casualties have been totaled to at least 65, with 175 injured. The attackers are believed to still be holding at least 10 people hostage. There are rumored to be at three Americans that took part in the attack. Because of this, I think the US should something the attacks. It is so heart breaking to hear of this tradgedy, and it is sad that things like this seem to be happening more and more often.

  5. This article says that there has been a terrorist attack in a mall in Kenya. There are sixtey-eight dead and possibly ten still held captive. The Kenyan government is currently working to capture the terriots. I believe that the US does need to get involved if there are any Americans being help captive.

At an upscale Nairobi mall in Kenya there was a "major assault" killing 68 and wounding 175. Two of the 68 that were killed was the President of Kenya's fiancé and nephew. There are 10-15 gunman and three of them are believed to be Americans. The US needs to sand back and let the Kenyan authorities take care of the situation themselves. Since there are three Americans involved in the attack I do not think the Kenyans are too pleased with the US right now. Also with things escalating in Syria, the US needs to take a break and worry about its own country.

  7. Attackers have killed over 50 people, injured over 100 and are now in different parts of the world. The US and any of the countries that the attackers are should take action. These people could harm any citizens of the country their in. Although, communicating through twitter about this situation is not a good idea to me. The attackers could easily create a new account and several more and know all that's happening. The Kenyan military needs to make wiser decisions.

i think they are cowards killing and injuring all of the people that were not armed. they think the can when the war but wait till the u.s. military gets a hold of them. this is a horrible tragedy but we should make the best of it, and i know this will be used to further the kingdom of god. all these bad things happening are going to get a bunch more people saved than dead.

A deadly attack took place inside a mall in Nairobi, Kenya. The death toll is an estimated 68 people, and 175 injured. Among the dead lie Kenya's president's nephew and fiancée. This has been a terrible tragedy involving 10-15 gunmen; among those gunmen are alleged attackers from the US, two from Somalia and one each from Canada, Finland, Kenya and the UK. The US has an obligation to do something about these attacks (even though it has recently come to an end) because the US helps ALL humans not just certain ones, and that is what makes us united.

  10. In Kenya, a group of terrorists led by AL Shabaab charged into the West Gate shopping mall killing 68 people and injuring 175. Ironically, all of them where non- Muslim. In fact, the terrorist group evacuated all Muslims before they began their attack. The terrorists took hostages also, but they ended up being rescued. I do think that the U.S. should go help Kenya with these terrorist attacks because we can help a lot when it comes to terrorists. We know how they think and we understand their main motives.

  11. Terrorist opened fire at a mall in Kenya killing sixty eight people and injuring over one hundred. It is believed there are ten hostages left. Al-Shabaab is believed to be the culprit. The U.S should not do anything about this unless further strikes continue. Al-Shabaab is a strong and deadly force almost as unpredictable as the Taliban.

  12. The article is just proposing what took place in a Kenyan mall. The whole situation was not addressed very well. Seeing as though everything is going off a belief, such as that Americans were involved. Not much is stated in assurance that what is said is true. I believe that it is not the United States duty to do something about these attacks. While we could use more friends or allies, Kenya can handle this. We are experiencing lots of school shooting while the death toll isn't 68 we handle it ourselves. If this were to occur again because Kenya didn't handle it well this time, then the US in my belief can jump in to help but not to make enemies. Because, the question is are the allies a bigger help than the trouble of whatever country or group we just cut ties with.

  13. Apparently, there was an attack on a mall. It had been a normal day, which suddenly turned into hysteria. Many people ended up dead, while some people were released. I'm feeling mixed emotions on whether or not America should step in, because sometimes we just add to the chaos and troubles, but sometimes we do well. So I think we should just watch and wait for anything odd.

  14. In Nairobi Kenya, there was an outbreak of gunfire that killed and wounded many innocent people, and others were held captive. This didn't just consist of African citizens but also people from other nations. Also, as the FBI looked into this attack, they said that American citizens could have been involved in the attack, but they have not confirmed this. I think that the U.S. could do something but, the president, Kenyatta, specifically said that, "This remains an operation of the Kenya security agencies." So, I think that with this quote, the Kenyan authorizes would rather do this on their own. - Abby Nelson

  15. In a mall in Nairobi, Kenya there was a shooting and hostage situation. Al-Shabaab has taken responsibility for the act and say is in retaliation for Kenya’s attacks of Al-Shabaab in Somalia. The death toll, as of Monday, was 68.
The U.S. should get involved. As a well-organized, well-off country we have a responsibility to assist other countries. This reminds me of the Vietnam War and how our involvement actually seemed to cause a lot of problems rather than help. But, in contrast, it seems like in this particular situation, U.S. involvement would be a good idea.

  16. In a mall in Kenya, there was a shooting held by 10-15 people. The shooting killed and injured many people. These men were holding hostages. I think that the US has an obligation to do something about this shooting because two of the men who did it were from the United States. I wouldn't say that we have total authority and can be in-charge of all of it, but we do have a say in it and can do something.

  17. Basically, the article is saying that people have been held hostage in a Nairobi mall, and it somehow ties up to the things happening in Syria. They're questioning if one of the attackers were American or not. Suppose one of the attackers were American, does that make the US obligated to do something? As if we don't have enough being thrown at us already? As if we don't have a melting pot of opinions as our political system?

  18. This article is talking about the shooting at a Kenya mall leaving 175 injuries, 68 people dead and people still think there are still 10 hostages. It is said american citizens have been involved. The US should only be involved to the extent of the US citizens and no farther. The Kenyan authorities should have have jurisdiction over the situation.

  20. Kenyan authorities claim to be close to ending a deadly siege at Nairobi mall where terrorists have killed at least sixty-eight people, injured one hundred seventy-five, and are believed to be holding ten hostages. The U.S. does not have an obligation to help the Kenyans but if it is asked for help in a reasonable way it should help because religious terrorism, or jihad as the terrorists call it, is a global problem that the U.S. also struggles with. While the U.S. must stand strong against terrorism, its current tactics seem very ineffective at getting the terrorists to stop and if the U.S. continues to react the way that it is it will spread itself to thin and be incapable of accomplishing anything.

  21. What's happened in Kenya is that, some people have went into the Westgate mall and killed over sixty people and injured over a hundred. They ran in throwing grenades and shooting in the mall painting some hallways with the blood of the deceased. Now should the US step in? I don't think so because Kenya said that they could handle it themselves and I think they don't need the United States' help. -Jordan Chestnut

    2. Yes, I think the U.S. should act upon this and retaliate and attack the Muslim extremist.
