In today's class, we discussed propaganda and its saturation of modern society. Usually, when discussing propaganda, the focus rests simply on WWII propaganda, especially the German propaganda machine. However, the same propaganda techniques used in the 1930s and 1940s are still in use today to sell certain products and ideas. Propaganda plays a big role in the creation of dystopia and the dark world portrayed in Lord of the Flies.
Homework: Students need to read chapters 9-12 (the remainder of the novel) in Lord of the Flies.
AHSGE Reading Review
We took a break from poetry to begin a discussion of the state of education in today's class, examining the current assessment structure in secondary education as well as the future of assessment and standardized testing in Alabama.
