Answer the following questions (PLEASE NOTE-- answer these questions under the assumption that people will read AND respond to your posts):

1. Why is the government spending this amount of money on global warming?  Is it a unanimous consensus that it should be spending this amount of money on this issue?

2. What is Representative Ed Whitfield's claimed desire for the spending programs that are focused on global warming?  Is he against spending money on this issue?

3. Do a short bit of research about the Daily Caller.  Who are they?  Who is their founder?  Do they have an open political slant when it comes to the news they report?

4. What is your opinion on global warming?  Why do you feel this way?

  1. the government is spending 22.2 billion dollars on global warming because the administration sees it as a threat to America. it was decided by the Obama administration and a majority of scientific departments except Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency. these two agency are testifying against the effort. Representative Ed Whitefield wants to have an clear understanding of what global warming concerns are the Obama administration working on . he would like a portion of the efforts to be spent on climate change issues. he is not against spending the money; he just wants a small say on how to use the money. the founders of the daily caller are Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel. Tucker Carlson is also a commentator on the fox channel and Neil Patel was policy advisor to vice president Cheney. Tucker is a conservative and Neil is a democrat. The daily caller is website that gives political updates on the activities in Washington 24 hours a day. they do have a slight slant in their reports they give. the report has a leniency towards the favor of the republican party. the report was one sided, however: it acknowledged the other briefly. tucker Carlson works for the fox channel that is proven to be conservative and a bite biased in there reports. Neil Patel is democrat, more liberal, that may be in favor of some chimerical plans in Washington, so some of his reports will seem liberal. while Carlson's reports, his will be more reserved. the daily caller has the best of both worlds to create a fair scope on what is happening in Washington. my opinion on global warming is that it is necessary to try and help the earth, however: 22.2 billion dollar is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a problem that is not made for a man to fix. the amount should be in the lower millions like at least 50 million or less. the rest of that money should be spent on things that can be fixed now. funds for education and creation of new should be underway. teachers have not gotten a raise since 2007. they are the very ones that teach hat a child needs to make it in the workforce to help the American economy.. the extra money could help fast food workers stop protesting for higher wages. the fast food corporation have had protest in large urban areas because workers want more money for the 40+ hours they work. The money can do better working in areas where it will make a visual, moral and economic impact. if the average American had a few more dollars , they would buy something thus the profit made from the business will cause it to grow and expand. this would created the need for more jobs and raising employment and wages. the need for more supply because of a high demand and increasing investment and marketability in American and internationally. the more money coming in than going out will help to fix the issues at home. American needs to be fixed internally before going out to try and fix arduous problems. if we can not help ourselves then we are no go at all.

  2. The government is spending their money on global warming because they are to dense to notice there are other issues, like border control, the national debt, the fueling problem, that money could be put toward. Yet, they [the Democrats] decide to ignore the Republicans and other conservative Democratss and spend money that we do not have on "climate change." Representative Ed Whitfield's desire for the global warming spending programs is he wants the public to know really what the government is going to do with that money and how they believe it will "fix" climate change. He does not want money to be spent on global warming. The Daily Caller is a political opinion and news site which was founded by Tucker Carlson, a conservative politician, and Neil Patel, an official on the committee of the past Vice President Dick Chaney, on January 11, 2010 in Washington, D.C. and they do have a political slant because they are conservative. Global warming is a natural occurrence that simply cannot be fixed by spending money that we do not have. Over time, the earth heats up naturally and this is not cause for some people to think the world is coming to an end and all of the polar bears are going to die. I believe this way because I was taught by my Dad, who is very involved in politics, about such issues as this and I have noticed things myself; and, I, being a Conservative, do not believe the government is being responsible with their money. Global warming is just a matter opinion for people to spin their own way into making it a real life-threatening occurrence.

    1. I agree that global warming is not a reason for people to panic and say the end is near; however, I do not agree with the comment that scientists who have spent a substantial amount of their lives studying climate change are “too dense to notice there are other issues.” I agree that there are other issues; however, there will always be other issues. The level of importance of one issue does not mean that any issue that you deem to be less important should be ignored. I also think your comment about Democrats ignoring Republicans is very appropriate and ironic considering your immediate dismissal of global warming as nothing more than a political ploy by “them” to create a panic. Also, considering this quote from NASA, “Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities,” I would venture to say that global warming is a little more than an opinion or something that happens "naturally". Also, considering the amount of debt we have any amount of money we spend on anything would be “money we don’t have.” Just like everything else in life global warming is not a black and white issue.

    2. I understand when you say that the government has other important issues to spend money on rather than global warming, especially such a big amount of money (without knowing how exactly the money are being spent) but nonetheless you can't deny that global warming IS an issue, like it has been for decades and today more than ever. Global warming is not natural, several studies explain that there is a very high percentage of possibilities that it is caused by the man's actions; therefore it is a problem that has to have a solution. Maybe we can't se the consequences now, maybe we won't see them in the next decades, maybe it will not cause "the end of the world", but it is always a responsibility of the government to look at the future and not only the present; probably if past governments (and I'm talking about all developed countries around the world) had done it, we would have to worry less now. But it is not so, and that's why global warming is an issue on which to invest (even if, as I said, the way it's being done is surely not the best).

  3. The government is spending this amount of money on global warming to not only fight it but to also fund a wide range of programs, such as scientific research, international climate assistance, incentivizing renewable energy technology, and subsidies to renewable energy producers. I believe that it is a unanimous consensus. Also, Representative Ed Whitfield's claim desires for answers as to how the money is spent and what it will accomplish. He is against spending money on this issue. Furthermore, the Daily Caller is a politically conservative opinion and news website that quadrupled in its audience and page view without any advertisement. The founder is Tucker Carlson. I believe that global warming is an issue, but we should not put that much money into it until it actually affects us. It does not make sense to put a lot of money into something that has not affected us yet.

    1. While I understand that it could be seen as a unanimous consensus to you because of all the information and warnings that scientists give out on it, I believe that it is not a unanimous consensus. Reason being, global warming is not one of the most important problems that the United States has on its plate right now. Also, spending this much money on global warming could be effecting the world's economy drastically for no reason. Scientists haven't given or proven specific facts that global warming can be stopped, since most causes aren't blamed on humans. It goes beyond my knowledge to think of a relevant reason to spend so much money on something that may or may not be able to be preventable.

  4. The government is spending so much money on global warming because they think it is an important issue that, if not taken care of, can cause harm to the human race. It is not unanimous because it is an absurd amount of money to spend on one thing that could possibly not be stopped. He wants the American people to know what the government is spending that money on and how they are planning of fixing global warming using that money. It seems as if he is against spending money on this issue, but his main focus is what that money is going to be used to do about global warming. Daily Caller is a daily news article that post current events in politics, sports, entertainment, business, technology, education, and more. Their founders are Tucker Carlson, a libertarian conservative political pundit, and Neil Patel, former adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney. The Daily Caller is conservative and will always side with the far right republicans on political issues. I feel as if global warming is an important issue but it should be left alone and deal with itself because it is crazy to spend so much money on something that could possibly not even be changed in the long run. I feel this way because the globe is God’s creation and he will do with it what he wants. We as humans should not try to fix everything with money spent on technology unless it gets to the point of extreme harm to human life.

    1. Brooke, you believe that global warming is not yet prevalent to mankind and so it should not be a main concern of humanity; however, global warming and climate change is actually having an immediate impact on humans and the environment. Over 2/3 of the world's soil has been eroded due to human activities. With less soil, there is less space to grow crops causing food shortages in many third world countries which leads to increased starvation. Also, world temperatures have been increasing. Since temperature increases the water temperature increases leading to a lack of oxygen in water. This lack of oxygen has led to death of many species of fish and has limited the world's food supply. Over half of the world's population relies on fish for their primary source of meat, if this meat is taken away millions if not billions could die. All in all, I understand your point of how global warming is not prevalent, but a little research would prove otherwise.

I feel like the government is spending too much money on global warming when we are still having the same issues we were having before they started spending even more money. All this money is being spent, but what purpose is it accomplishing? What will it accomplish and how? I feel like Global Warming is a important issue that we should worry about as a society, but the more money spent on one important issue only takes attention from other larger issues that can be fixed for a fact. Why create a problem of spending more money when our country is already in debt. Why dig a deeper hole for America to live in? Representative Ed Whitfield understands what the government is trying to do, but he has a issue with the people who are considering climate change related issues as a major problem. If it is such a major problem, why aren't they helping coming up with a solution better than what has already been decided. We complain about problems that the world deal with, but we're not coming together as an society to fix these things, so we let the government take over. He feels like there can be a solution to this problem, but why spend all this money and nothing is getting better? It's a waste. It was founded in 2010 by Tucker Carlson, a 20-year-old veteran journalist, and Neil Patel, former chief policy advisor to Vice President, Cheney. I feel like the news they report bashes the negative side of every issue going on in society. They focus more on the negative effect of the situation to make the audience feel against it or for it. I feel that Global Warming is affecting the world and causing arm, but I feel like the government spend so much money on things to the point where they end up not having enough money to help solve other issues.

  6. 1) They say they are spending the money to make "numerous predictions that provide an opportunity to analyze and compare them to today’s statistics." Still, however, it is not a unanimous consensus that the government should be spending billions of dollars on climate change, because the Senate Republicans’ report stood against the issue.
    2) Ed Whitfield stated he wanted to know what the government was spending all the billions of dollars on to help climate change issues, and he is against the government spending all that money and was trying to persuade others to his opinion in stating, “Anyone who believes the committee ought to be focusing its attention on climate change related issues should be standing with us to get these answers.”
    3) They are a political news website that was founded by Tucker Carlson, and the news they report is very opinion-based.
    4) I think global warming is an issue that needs attention, but it shouldn't be that big of an issue to spend billions of dollars on it. I feel it's not an immediate issue, like so many of the other issues are today, and we can work on it over time, whereas some of the other problems of today need immediate solutions.

  7. 1. The government is spending this amount of money on global warming to fight global warming. The money also goes to funding a wide range of programs, including scientific research, international climate assistance, incentivizing renewable energy technology and subsidies to renewable energy producers. It is not a unanimous consensus because scientist are agreeing to have this much money spent to fight global warming, but the republicans do not agree on the amount of money that is spent to fight global warming.
    2. Representative Ed Whitfield’s claimed desire is to find out how the billions of dollars are being spent and what it will accomplish. He is against the spending because he wants to know how the money is spent and how it will accomplish things. This shows that he is against the spending on the money because he wants to find answers and find out what the money is used for.
    3. The daily caller is a politically conservative news and opinion website. The founder is Tucker Carlson. Also in the article it showed more republican views that were against the global warming budget than views that was for spending money on global warming and liberal views.
    4. I believe that global warming is a bad thing. Global warming is a bad thing because the earth is getting warmer each year. You can tell by the numerous glaciers that are melting and getting smaller each year. I think it is a bad thing because the earth is getting warmer and sooner or later all of the glaciers will be gone if we don’t do anything about it. Global warming also has consequences of drought, severe hurricanes, massive fires, and melting of polar caps that could potentially harm us and global warming presents a greater risk of heat-related illness and death.

    1. I understand your comment and where you are coming from, but I disagree. I think that global warming can be a bad thing. Notice that I said "can". Global warming has not affected us enough for us to spend so much money on. I believe that the research is necessary, but there are more important issues to spend money on. For example, our country is in debt. We are actually going through that. It is not something that might happen, or something that we are expecting. This is why we need to put the amount of money being used for something that has not affected us as much into something that is drastically affecting us daily. Moreover, you presented a valid argument on this issue, but I disagree.

    2. Although I do understand where you're coming from on this issue, I must say I disagree on some parts, mainly the Global Warming thing. Why is it so bad? What if it is supposed to be happening? I believe everything happens for a reason, and global warming is one of them. Did you know that the route that the Earth travels around the Sun is not constant? Maybe the Earth is just at the part of its journey where it is closer to the Sun than it has been, and will return to getting colder in the near future. I mean, think about the ice age. If you believe it happened, which I have no proof that it actually did but encourage you to be as open-minded as I am about that, then how did it end? Some random heat wave that just happened to roll across the Earth? Nah, man. The Earth got closer to the Sun! And, as I realize how ridiculous this may sound to you think, for a moment, how other notions seemed to others at certain time periods. The Earth is round you say? The Earth is not at the center of the universe you say? If what I had just explained came from a scientist's mouth, would you believe it then?

(None of this was meant to be my actual ideas. Just didn't think I disagreed completely with anyone so I did a little mocking disagreement. Thanks for letting me use your comment to fight with, Kelsey!)

The government is spending this amount of money on global warming in order to combat its effects. This issue is definitely not a unanimous decision because House Republicans strongly disagree with President Obama’s plan to use about $45 billion on ways to reverse, or at least slow down, global warming.
Representative Ed Whitfield claims that he wants the spending programs focused on global warming to explain why so much money is needed to combat the effects of global warming. He is not against spending money on the issue, but he is against not knowing what that amount of money will accomplish.

In my opinion, global warming can be detrimental to the world; therefore, I feel that the United States, along with other nations, should contribute to a group effort to help slow down global warming and try to reverse the process if possible. On the other hand, I do not think that the United States should be so involved in reversing global warming that the expense of the process’ reversal should become unreasonable because this will inevitably cause a strain on American taxpayers.

The government is spending so much money on global warming because they are researching the global warming by including scientific research and funding a wide range of programs in order to try and fix global warming. There is not an unanimous consensus about the spending of the money because it's obvious that the republican representatives want to spend this amount of money on global warming efforts. Representative Ed Whitfield reports that before Americans complain about that amount of money congress spends for global warming efforts, they should take the time to learn about what congress actually spends the money on; he is not against spending money on this issue. The Daily Caller is a politically conservative news and opinion website based in Washington, D.C. The founder of The Daily Caller is Tucker Carlson; yes, they have an open political slant when it comes to the news they report. In conclusion, I feel as if global warming is very important issue to the world, but I also feel as if people over react towards the situation. Many people freak out over global warming and make all of these programs to reduce it. Although the programs could help reduce global warming, I feel as if they can not fully change the overall problem of global warming.

    1. Although I understand your point when you say you think people are overreacting, one should consider that the overreaction may be necessary. When dealing with the possibility of the Earth being affected so drastically, who is to dictate how much of a reaction is necessary? With the melting of the ice caps brings increased water levels in the ocean which can severely affect wildlife and the amount of land available to us. Not only this, but global warming itself is caused by the atmosphere slowly being dissipated and allowing more and more UV rays to get to the Earth's surface, meaning that these harmful rays will be coming directly into contact with life on Earth. If enough people are informed and participate in these programs, something can be done.

  10. The government is spending billions of dollars on global warming to help save the physical world from destruction by pollution and to set an example for other nations in an attempt to have them do the same. It is not a unanimous decision to have the government spend this much money. Many Republicans are against this high cost of global warming reduction because they believe that the government should be focusing more on the immediate home-front, such as border control.
Ed Whitfield wants the programs that are spending money on global warming to come to Congress and explain how they are stopping global waerming and why they are stopping global warming. Whitfield is neutral on the subject of global warming. He wants to hear the environmental programs point of view, then make a decision on whether or not to support the programs.

Global Warming is a major issue in the world. The Earth's ecosystems have been gradually degrading due to the increase in temperatures. Nature is dying and man kind is the reason. Man kind has always manipulated nature and now nature will be destroyed if humans continue to manipulate it. Global Warming must be stopped, otherwise man-kind will cease to exist. I do not think that it is all of man kid's fault for global warming; yes, we do contribute to some of this problem, but it is not possible for man kind to do that much damage to the earth.

The federal government is spending this much money of global warning because
they are funding many programs and research. I think it is ridiculous to spend
this much money on global warning when many other problems are occurring in the
world and money is being thrown away for research on something that is unsure.
No Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield does not agree with spending money on global

  12. The government is spending so much money on global warming efforts because it is a major issue that needs to be addressed now before it gets too out of control. The climate is becoming warmer and warmer and if efforts are not made to stop it, then the oceans will begin to rise and flood the coastal regions. If this were to happen, then the money spent will not be even close to how much money damage from global warming may cause. The budget for global warming is not a unanimous decision because many people see it as not a “true” issue, whereas a thing such as border protection, which is receiving a lower budget, is a “true” issue in their eyes. Representative Ed Whitfield wants the government to be open about exactly what the money is being used for and specifically what they plan to accomplish by spending this much on global warming. He is not against spending the money on global warming as long as the government is up front about the progress being made. The Daily Caller is a politically conservative news opinion website in the United States. It was founded by Tucker Carlson, a libertarian conservative in his political views, in 2010. The website does not have a strong political leaning for either the Republicans or Democrats; however, they are considered to lean towards more conservative matters and more broadly appeal to the Independents, since a majority of their viewers are Independents. I believe global warming is a serious issue and that it needs to be stopped from becoming a much bigger thing than it already is now. The excess amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has caused heat to become trapped closer to earth and this has caused many problems. When I was 5, I went to my aunt’s house in Alaska. I remember sitting on the deck and seeing the lake down in the valley and the huge glaciers on the far side. When I went back 2 years ago, the lake was only about 70 yards from her house because the glaciers had began to melt due to global warming. So, the money should be spent to avoid this happening on a large scale and affecting the sea levels.

Being a Christian, I believe it is God's world and He will do with it what He sees fit. Yes, we do need to try to use cleaner fuel and energy methods, but an excessive amount of money should not be used to investigate climate change. Dear future Dr. Herren,
You make a great argument towards the funding of global warming prevention programs. I understand that you, as a human being, are afraid of being wiped off of the face of the Earth. If there is any solution, you would like capable scientists to find it. All of this, I can empathize with. However, you fail to take into consideration where the funding for these programs come from. The money does not come from any representative's pocket; it comes from your parents'. Now, to you that may not be an issue because you believe in the programs' effectiveness in solving the problem and the problem itself. But, to people who don't believe in either of these things, this is a waste of their money. They would rather it be spent on another social issue, such as gay marriage, abortion, border patrol, so on, and so forth. I believe it should be an optional service, like many products offer nowadays. For example, if you buy a new computer, you may be faced with the decision of getting netflix or not. If you like movies, and you think you will use the service, then you will pay for it. If you don't pay for it, then you get no movies. I believe the same should go for global warming funding. If you think you will ever have to use the service, you will pay for it. If you don't pay for it, then you get no arcs.

Although, I understand Colton's view that global warming is an important issue that needs to be fixed and that he has seen the effects of personally, I disagree. I do not think that it is necessary to spend such a consumable amount on one thing, especially considering our extreme national debt and the rising poverty rate. So many people say that if we do not "fix" global warming that it could destroy the Earth and human race. My belief is that that will happen anyway, so why waste so much money stopping something from being destroyed that is going to be destroyed one way or another. I see no problem in coming up with things that humans can do to help slow the rate of global warming and using some money for research and expierments, but there is no reason that such an excessive amount should be used on something that might have no way of being stopped. There are many more things of greater importance that money should be spent on first.

  14. The government is spending a large amount of money on global warming because global warming is such a high priority threat. The EPA is working to increase energy prices based on predicted global temperature increases. By spending a vast amount of money on this issue, they are trying to prevent other issues from happening that could be caused from global warming. It is not a unanimous consensus to spend this amount of money on this issue because its not basis on scientific facts and the scientists' models are sometimes inaccurate. With that being said why are we spending less on border security when we can actually prove that the US has illegal immigrants pouring into the border because of the poorly secured border. Representative Ed Whitfield's desire is for people that believe in spending this amount of money on global warming should stand up and help find the answers to the issue. 15. The government is spending a large sum of money on expenditures relating to global warming because it is a serious, time sensitive issue. Various emissions are causing the gradual heating of the planet and this could have a large impact in just a few years. Obviously, as with any governmental decision, support for global warming expenditures is not unanimous because some people believe that global warming has no serious consequences or believe that global warming is a myth. Representative Ed Whitfield wants the public and congress to understand the reason so much money is being put into global warming and what the money will accomplish. Whitfield is not against spending money on global warming he just wants both congress and the public to know why the government is spending money on it. The Daily Caller, founded by former chief policy advisor to Vice President Chaney Neil Patel and Tucker Carlson, is a 24 hour news publication with original reporting, focusing on mostly political stories. The Daily Caller indeed has an open conservative political slant. My opinion on global warming is that it real and it needs to be combated quickly. Global warming is a serious environmental problem that could potentially harm life on earth soon. One instance of an immediate consequence global warming is having now is that the polar ice caps are melting and the sea level is rising drastically and animals are losing their habitats. This problem is exemplified in the Disney Nature movie, Earth, which brought the seriousness of global warming to my attention.

  16. The Government is spending so much money on global warming because they believe they can do something to be able to impact the gradual rise in temperature. It is not a unanimous census because the Republicans have been criticizing the Obama administration regarding their efforts on global warming.
Ed Whitfield is against spending money on the global warming issue, and he does not see a reason for the programs to be so focused and funded for this issue.
"The Daily Caller" is a news website which is filled to the brim with opinions about ongoing events. TDC was founded by Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel, both of whom have been involved in/with politics. It's very obvious that they are bias in regards to what they choose to report about in their website.
Global warming. A very controversial topic. Some say it's a real, serious issue, and others say it's a conspiracy created by the government. I'm no scientist. I can only believe what they tell us. I believe there's more of a "climate change" rather than "global warming." It's our own dang fault anyway. Creating all of these bad things using fossil fuel when we could be using things like hemp. Hemp does not equal marijuana, so there's no reason why it should be illegal. Oh wait, the reason why it was outlawed was because the paper companies didn't want any competition. Hemp is so useful in so many ways. It can easily help the environment when grown. If the government is seriously concerned about our environment, they need to stop with the multi-million dollar projects for creating machines when there is a simple plant that can do exactly what they're trying to create by hand. PLUS, the US needs to stop thinking they need to do everything on their own. There are other countries out there that can help with our issues. I swear America is like that one kid in elementary school that thought they knew everything and could do everything on their own, as well as pitch a fit when anyone offered help. BAH.

  17. The government believes that we are beyond the point of whether or not global warming is happening. They believe we should be asking what we are going to do about the problem now. They believe it is a very serious problem that people need to take seriously. The amount of money used will help to find a solution to the problem of global warming. Representative Ed Whitfield believes that the money is being well spend and states that anyone else who believes needs to join the effort to find a solution. The Daily Caller is a politically conservative news website. It was founded by Tucker Carlson, who is a libertarian conservative, and Neil Patel, who is the former advisor to former Vice President Dick Cheney. Carlson claims that The Daily Caller reports "breaking stories of importance". There is an extensive amount of evidence that Earth is warming and that human activities are causing global warming to increase. If humans chose to make specific changes in their lifestyle and in the production of certain products, then we could possibly slow the rate of global warming. I think global warming is a serious problem because it could lead to the destruction of the human races or even all life on Earth. If there is a way to lower the dangers of the world, why don't more people decide to try to make those changes to increase our chance of survival on Earth?

  20. I'm not really sure the article explains in detail how the billions of dollars are being spent on global warming other than funding for a wide range of programs, including scientific research, international climate assistance, incentivizing renewable energy technology and subsidies to renewable energy producers. No, it is not unanious every one is in agreement regarding global warming cause, cost, prevention, etc. I don't think either party will agree on the subject any time soon.
I think from reading the article that his main focus is to make American's aware of the excessive cost the governement is putting into the research of global warming. We as citizens "should understand the scope of what the federal government is doing, how the billions of dollars are being spent and what it will accomplish". I believe he is on the side of public awareness.

I understand your concern on the money but the US is already is so much debt now. As of yesterday morning, each American born up to the age of 90 would have to write a check worth $54,200 so the US could be brought out of debt. That is more money then some people will see in a year. Bill Gates could bail the US out 7 times before he would be completely bankrupt. The fact at hand is that it really does not matter how much money the US is using because they will always be in debt. So why not spend that money on trying to figure out ways to save your life and the lives of others? Is the air you breath and the protection from the cancerous UV rays not important?

The government is spending a great amount of money on global warming because it's a very important issue that requires an immediate solution, and as stated by the Obama administration there shouldn't be a debate about the existence of the problem, but about how to solve it, since it's already been cleared that the issue exists and is serious. Anyway, the Republicans argue that global warming is not such a big issue as it is said to be, since data shows that temperature has not risen as much as statistics had predicted in the last few years. They also claim that the investment of such an amount of money should be accompanied by more transparency by the agencies that receive these money, since now most of these same agencies tend not to explain their activities and how exactly they spend the money. This is what the Kentucky Republican Representative Ed Whitfield asserts; he doesn't express himself completely against this financing to global warming agencies, but claims that "...Congress and the public should understand the scope of what the federal government is doing, how the billions of dollars are being spent, and what it will accomplish".
The "Daily Caller" is a website of news and opinions that was founded by Tucker Carlson, a political critic, and Neil Patel, former adviser of former Vice President Dick Cheney. This website is known for its politically conservative inclination; for example, in this article we can see that they tend to support the Republican's view of the matter. Between the visitors, a large percentage is Republican.
In my opinion, global warming is a very, very important issue that unfortunately is underestimated by most of the people. It's obvious that not enough is being done about it, especially by common people in their everyday life (and I am not excluding myself) but also by big companies and governments (of some countries more than others) that are focused on the profits and not on how they earn them. It's also true that the little alternatives that people have to help stopping global warming (like electric cars, solar panels, etc) are expensive and not affordable, and for this reason it's fundamental to carry out research on the matter. Even if the temperature is not increasing like statistics had predicted, we can not ignore that pollution is a very big issue nowadays and it's creating many problems to the planet we're living in, and that is essential for our lives. But I also agree that the activity of researching agencies must be controlled to make sure that the money that are being invested on this matter are being well spent and will produce a result. I feel this way because I can see the bad results of human impact on nature every day, for example when I can't see the stars at night because of pollution, or when I go jogging and the smog of cars makes me cough, etc... But there are also thousands of documents that prove that the earth is changing and the environment is struggling to survive our thoughtless acting. And of course I want something to be done (but I also want to DO something) to save what I personally love, the beauty and diversity of nature. When I think of environmental problems, in my mind comes an image of when I was little, and every May my elementary school teachers used to bring me and my class upon the hills near the city, to run in the grass and climb on cherry trees; and I have the desire that my future children will have the possibility of doing such a thing as well; I want to save the green hills and the cherry trees.

    2. I understand your point of view but in my opinion the government is paying all this money just to change the climate. Thats not theoretically correct. The government is paying all this money help support global warming because its an issue that needs immediate attention. The government cannot just completely leave the issue of global warming alone. if they did then the situation would get worse. I would rather have issues of global warming while knowing that people are trying to tame the issue than knowing that the issue isn't being handled or maintained. Even though you cant please everybody, you can try to please at least some people. You have to try things no matter how many people agree with your opinion or not. Do you think Rosa Parks was thinking about what the white people thought of her as she was sitting in the front of the bus? No. She was trying to make a difference for not only herself but the whole world. Therefore, the government needs to try all they can no matter who is on their sides.

No, it is not a unanimous decision within the government to spend the amounts of money specified due in part to some political figures concern for the economy and how its budgeted and others' concern for the distaste they have president and any/every decision he makes or does not make.

  30. 1. Because the EPA, and other organizations like it, are spending money on ways to discover if global warming is threat, rather than spending money on a solution. If global warming sounds like an old issue, that's because it is, which also contributes to the amount of money being spent. The longer the organization has been around, the more money it has consumed for "research."
    2. All in all, Rep. Whitfield argues the point that, at the very least, the public deserves to know exactly what all of their tax money is being spent on with these organizations. This also points out how unfair it is that people are blindly funding this, because essentially this is the equivalent to putting money in a box that says "Environment", asking what the money is being used for, and being met with a cold stare.
    3. The Daily caller is a news and political opinion article website that is primarily conservative. This comes as no surprise considering it was founded by Tucker Carlson, a libertarian conservative, and Neil Patel, who is the former adviser to Dick Cheney.
    4. I personally don't give a care about the environment as a whole, so global warming is something I wouldn't choose to fund myself, but I wouldn't mind if others gave their entire lives' savings to the cause. That's my real issue with it, I suppose, the fact that it isn't a choice, that it's something I am required to pay for. I don't care about their issue, and I could willingly use that money elsewhere for a cause I backed. Their should be a separate organization set apart just for global warming that takes donations. These donations should be out of an individual or company's pocket directly. This way the issue will only be solved if people are active enough to solve it. Besides, if the apocalypse happens because of the polar ice caps melting, then none of the liberal activists will be alive to tell me, "I told you so".

The rise of human carbon emissions into the atmosphere has accelerated global warming drastically. As a result, the polar ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising which will soon lead to flooding of coastal regions and other negative consequences. Mark, your grammar is pretty bad. The budget for global warming is completely justifiable because this is a major issue that we need to combat before the large scale effects set in.

    2. I can see that you feel as if global warming is not a problem as a whole, but you are not seeing what an event such as global warming, which is a real issue, can have on your life. You comment that you simply do not care about the environment and that you want your money to be used for something you back, but you should be backing this issue because it does affect you. The increasing amounts of CO2 being put into the air by industries has caused heat to be trapped within the atmosphere. You also write that the money for this “issue,” which you specifically note, should be coming from an individual’s pocket. If this is an issue that needs to be solved, then in your eyes other issues such as border patrol should also not be funded by the government. They are both “issues,” so what is the difference? If the problem is that you feel global warming is not real or it does not affect you, then think about what would happen if all the glaciers melted. It would not be positive, would it? Sea levels would rise, covering vast areas of land that are now above ground. The density of cities would increase and the amount of arable land would decrease dramatically. So you indicate that it doesn’t affect you, but according to the previous example, it affects you and everyone else in a major way. My aunt, who lives in Alaska, will have to move in under 10 years because the glacier near her house has created a lake that is moving very rapidly towards her. If you knew that you would have to move and lose all that money you had in a house because it will eventually be under water, then you would do everything you could to try and stop the issue. So, if you would stand by their spending on global warming then you can save millions of people from encountering that issue. Considering humans are the reason for this increase, shouldn’t we do everything we can to reverse the issue? The quicker the problem is resolved, the better chance the earth has to sustain life for future generations.

Mark, while I see your outlook on global warming is passionately realistic (as the odds of an apocalypse actually occuring are undoubtly high with a perception such as yours) the funding of global warming is not soley provided for by the government; there are several independent organizations who ascertain donations through advoacation of their respective programs, mostly without government aid. In addition no one is required to do anything simply because a law dictates it; you can do whatever you want, you'll just receive different consequences.

Global warming is an issue that does need to be taken into action. The government is spending this large amount of money on this issue because it is such a dangerous, harmful thing. Money should be spent on this because our government is going to have to spend a large amount on fixing it sooner or later, and the later we wait, the more dangerous and expensive it is going to be. Global warming will have an impact on everyone if we don't start doing something about it now. It will affect transportation, living locations, working locations, electricity, agriculture, etc. because global warming will take over to where we can't do anything anymore. Ed Whitefield believes if the government is going to spend a bunch of money on something, they need to be careful how they spend it and need to have backup plans since he is after all against spending money on this issue. The Daily Caller is a politically conservative news and opinion based website. The founder is Tucker Carlson. The Daily Caller has full time reporters in the press pool of the White House. However, I believe very differently. The scientist they use to come up with this conclusion that global warming is real and an imminent threat to the world are countered by other scientists who believe that global warming created by man is a hoax perpetrated by those with a political agenda. Without a consensus on the issue there is no justification for the exorbitant expenditures that is being spent. I believe that the earth goes in cycles of warming and cooling. Man can only have a minimal effect on the climate. One volcano spews more carbon dioxide than all that man has created since the beginning of the industrial revolution. I feel that certain administrations are using the environment and controversial science to further their political agenda.

  33. The government is spending so much on global warming efforts because it not only affects the future of our country; it also affects the future of our planet. The government likely feels that the longevity and prosperity of the Earth is worth the 20 plus billion dollar investment. While some people in the government are in favor of this investment, support for funding to combat global warming is far from unanimous.

  34. 1. The government has decided that Global Warming is a threat. They have agreed that we need to spend money on activities to figure out what is going on with the climate; however, They do not agree on the so much money being spent and the American people not knowing how it is exactly being used. One main reason is that some of the projects will cause increases that the American people will have to pay for eventually.

    2. Representative Whitefield is not against spending money on this issue. He is not even against spending this amount of money on the issue. He just wants to know how the money is being used and to educate the people about it. He claims that anyone who believes in this issue should stand with him and demand these answers.

    3. Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel founded the Daily Caller. They are in the White House Rotating Press Pool and are considered politically conservative. They claim to not support any kind of ideology but they claim to report what is important to know.

    4. I feel that Global Warming is just part of life. The Earth has a cycle just like anything else. Without the cycle, it will cease to exist. I am not saying that technology and the great population hasn't changed some of the effects of Global Warming, but it does need to exist. LIfe will go on one way or another.

    1. I believe that Earth has its own cycle. However, I believe if global warming occurs too soon, there will be no life left on earth. An environmental disaster could destroy all human life forms on earth if we do not take some action against global warming. Life could potentially end on earth if steps are not taken to prevent global warming.- Janna Meeks

The government is spending billions of dollars to end Global Warming for good. Ed Whitfield wants to let the people know what all the billions of dollars Is being spent on. He is all for spending this large amount of money considering its for a good cause. The Daily Caller is a politically conservative news and opinion based website. Tucker Carlson is the founder. They do not have an open political slant with the news The Daily Caller reports. My opinion on global warming is that it needs to end. I feel it needs to end because it is ruining Earth.

    1. Global Warming is perfectly natural in fact climate change is only natural and nessesary for life to continue on earth. We shouldn't worry because their is a hole in the atmosphere that prevents the earth from over-heating. So untill the day comes when nature fails and man must rise from its ashes and restore the world (Which has never happend) we shouldn't worry about a little climate change.

  36. The Obama administration believes that global warming is real and an imminent threat to the world. However, the science they cite and the scientists they use to come to this conclusion are countered by other scientists who believe that global warming created by man is a hoax perpetrated by those with a political agenda. Without a consensus on the issue there is no justification for the exorbitant expenditures this administration is spending.
Rep. Whitfields desire is for the American people to both see the scope of the money being spent and to demand results. He also said that the people who believe the claims should stand beside him and be demanding the money be spent in a responsible manner and also be demanding results.
The Day Caller is a politically conservative news website that is the conservative answer to the huffington post, which is very liberal. It was founded by Tucker Carlson, a libertarian political pundit, and Neil Patel, a former advisor to Dick Cheney. They are a conservative web site but aren't tied to any ideology. They report the news as is and let you decide. Their article titles are less misleading than liberal websites. I believe that the earth goes in cycles of warming and cooling. Man can only have a minimal effect on the climate. One volcano spews more carbon dioxide than all that man has created since the beginning of the industrial revolution. I feel that this Administration is using the environment and controversial science to further their political agenda.- Morgan House

    1. I see how you believe global warming is not a man made issue; however, it is accelerated by the various gases and chemicals we pump into our atmosphere. Whether or not it is caused by us is irrelevant, its effects will still be felt by us. In all unproven areas of areas of science their are scientists who disagree with one another; just like the argument over how many universes there are and how they operate, their will never be any proof of either side until we let it run its coarse. If we do this we may be causing severe damage to our planet just as a camp fire isn't dangerous until it gets out of hand. In much the same way, we must attempt to stop global warming while we can because if we wait it may become too late. Also your request that the money be "spent in a responsible manner" is much easier said than done since the whole premise of spending the amount of money that we are spending is to be more responsible.

  37. The U.S. government is spending two times as much money on global warming than on U.S. borders. Some do not agree but this seems so be more important at this point in tike. The Daily Caller was created Patel and open about their views about global warming. I do not know much about it but it is a controversial issue that should be prevented as best as possible.

Government is spending the amount of money they do on global warming because it has been realized as a threat with severe impacts. Leaving the question of what are they are going to do about it. Which is spend money on research and solutions to global warming. No, it is not a unanimous consensus to spend the amount of money they do on global warming. Congressional Republicans oppose the budget cut out for this specific topic. Republican Ed Whitfield's desire is for the public to understand the scope of what the federal government money is doing, how it is beimg spent, and what it will accomnplish. The Daily Caller is a news and opinion publication based in Washington D.C. It was founded in 2010, by Tucker Carlson. Their political slant is liberal and conservative. My opinion on Global Warming, is that it is a problem, globally, I feel that our country does need to spend some amount of money on this topic. I feel this way because negative effects from Global Warming can be seen now, and will surely increase if no action is taken against it.
