Pre-AP English 9 Current Events Blog for Week of April 25

This week's blog will be worth forty points to Gryffindor.

In a shocking turn of events, this week's current events blog is very short!  Read it here:

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_ODD_THE_DONALD_ELEMENTARY?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-04-23-17-15-23

After you have read this small blurb, I want you to consider the ramifications of such an action by the school board and respond to the following questions:

1. If it is the popular vote, should the school board rename the elementary school Donald J. Trump Elementary?

2. What considerations should be made when considering whether or not to name a school after someone?

**** While the article may be short, I don't expect that your answers will be.  Each of your answers should be well-thought-out and supported by specific evidence.  I will not give a length requirement, but don't give me any puny answers!!

    1. If the majority of the vote is that specific name, then they should consider it.
    2. Who they name the school after should be because they believe that persons accomplishments are so outstanding, that they want to honor them by naming the school after them, and in hopes that the children attending the school will achieve similar accomplishments in their lives as well.

1.) Yes, although many people do not like him it wouldn't be right to not go through with it just because it is Donald Trump. The most submissions were for his name so it is only fair. For example, in the presidential election if someone gets the most votes they win. Just because a large number of people don't like that person they got the votes, they win.

2.) I do think the person should have good morals and character, but if there is a vote they should go with what is voted. I do think if Donald Trump is to become president and gets impeached due to immoral acions and having poor character they should have another vote about the name of the school.

    1. Not necessarily. If the popular vote is not meaningful to the school or to the nation as a whole, then I think that it is kind of useless to name the school after that person/thing.
    2. They Should consider his/hers importance to society and consider the affect that that person has had on every single group of people. If the person that they are trying to name the school after has not had a positive affect on all people working at/attending the school then I think that the school should not be named after them.

    1. Even if this is Texas we're discussing and the school was formerly named after a CONFEDERATE general, I still believe they should consider the consequences of naming the school after someone so unpleasant. The Latino race populates a large part of Texas, and I would believe it might be offensive to them to name a school after someone who continuously degrades the Hispanic people. It might be more beneficial to consider other, less vulgar nominations before automatically deciding to name the school after Donald Trump just because it received the popular vote.

    2. You should consider a person's accomplishments and what they've done to help the nation the school is native to. Wouldn't it make more sense to name an elementary school full of young, developing minds after someone who hasn't offended entire races? You shouldn't allow children to praise such a horrible political figure even if he will (sadly) win the Republican nomination. Donald Trump is nothing, but a sadistic, horrible white person. He has done nothing for anyone.

    1. I believe that they should change the name to whatever the popular vote is. Donald Trump or anything else.
    2. It should should be well respected and held in high regard by the community.

    1. I don't think that they should change the name of the elementary school just because it's popular vote. If elections of candidates aren't based on poplar vote than this shouldn't be any different, and this decision that they make now will have an impact whether they think it or not. The school should keep the same name for which it was given in the first place because that person that they named it after must of been important, and in order to have anything named after someone then that person should do something that is actually worth it.
    2. They should consider whether in the future that person will be worth naming after like if that is a bad person with a bad reputation. Also they should consider what has that person has done to deserve to have that school named after that person. The person that they choose shouldn't be just popular for one thing that person should have done something worth remembering in the future. If you don't name the school after a person then they should name the school based on the region that they are in which would cause less drama and fuss than naming a school after someone.

    1. Considering that it's the school boards vote, and it was the most popular, the elementary school should take the name of Donald J. Trump Elementary.

    2. You should thoroughly consider the opinions of the parents, and the suggestions of the school board. Also, you should take into the account what the individual did to deserve a school to be named after him.

1: No because Donald Trump is not a good role model and he hasn't done anything that seriously help America become better as a country. He wants to kick people out of America and some of those people have ancestors that's helped shape what America is today, so they shouldn't change it to that just because he is trying to be a president.

2: They should consider the following:
Have they contributed to our community?
    Have they bettered America?
Have they done more than cause controversy?
    Are/Were their morals good?

    1. If more than half of the people want it to be named that, then yes. I don’t see what the problem would be if it was renamed that, especially if Trump is the next president. Though I think it would be better to wait to make it official to see if Trump really is the next president.
    2. If the person is worthy to have a building, especially a school that contains kids in it, named after them. And if the majority of the people agree with the decision, or if it would bother or offend a lot of people.

    1. In my opinion, Donald Trump does not deserve anything to be named in honor of him. Trump hasn’t done or made anything great or wonderful to deserve a school to be named after him. He hasn’t helped this country in any way. I think that other names are more qualified, like Harper Lee, who has spread good messages throughout her book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Donald Trump, on the other hand, spreads messages of racism. If children see that their school is named after, they might think that he is a good person, which is an absolute lie.
    2. Well, like I previously said, when naming a school, I think that the person should have done something beneficial to the country- or even the world. Donald Trump on the other hand hasn’t really done anything except offend a race of people by threating them.

    1. No, changing the name of that elementary school will do nothing but raise Trump's ego. As if his ego wasn't big enough, making him even more full of himself is a problem the we, the American people, will be forced to deal with.
    2. Well, I think they should be someone we should aspire to be. And yes, everyone wants to be like Donald Trump is the sense that he's filthy rich, but I also think no man, woman, or child with a very basic set of morals aspires to be so bigoted and hateful, at least i would hope so. There's a reason Harriet Tubman is replacing Andrew Jackson (and there's nothing wrong with Jackson). She was an abolitionist, and a humanitarian that worked for a noble cause. She is a woman even a man should aspire to be, and simple a good human being. So if anyone, the elementary school should be renamed after her.

    1. No, I don't think the school board should rename the elementary school after Donald Trump because he has done nothing for our country to be represented as anything. Donald Trump is a mediocre business man who shouldn't be represented as a good politician. He shouldn't be represented through the name of a school because the people who attend the school will be looking up to a man who has had about 4 lawsuits and a couple bankruptcies. I don't think he should abuse his platform for people who are probably uneducated about who he is while they are attending a school named after him. Donald Trump is a a hateful, sexist, racist, and misogynistic man who should not represent anything that is related to an achievement.
    2. I think one of the main considerations that should be made before naming something after someone should be whether or not the person has done anything for our country or whatever place is being named after the person to deserve the achievement. By naming something after someone, it is representing all parts of that person. You can't leave out that this person may be racist, misogynistic, etc. If it takes deep thinking to figure out something positive about the person, I don't think that would be a good choice.

    1. No, they shouldn't rename the school after Donald Trump, he hasn't really done anything worth the honor of getting a school named after him, which is usually reserved for presidents or people who have done a lot for the well-being of our country. Trump has no knowledge of politics and most of his policies are made popular by him pointing fingers at other people. If by chance he is president they should not name it after him still because when he's finally out of office our country doesn't need any reminders of the idiocy we had to have to vote him in in the first place. If you ask me, someone with millions of dollars should be able to at least afford a better haircut and maybe some education while he's at it, a person with the delusional view of the world he seems to hold should be kept far, far away from children and their schools.
    2. In deciding whether or not to name a school after someone, one should contemplate the questions as follows: Can you think of something this person has done that deserves any gratification or symbol of achievement? Do they give the face of our country a good name or do they make our country look bad? Would any person attending the school have any trouble accepting why the school was named after them? Has this person shared any views or done anything that could be seen as controversial or offensive? Will this person continually give our country a good representation? (if alive)If any of these questions receives a negative answer, maybe you should move on to the next person on your list of possibilities, or maybe at this point you'd understand why you wouldn't personally want this person to represent anything because of the negatives associated with this person that you wouldn't want to pass on to someone's children, which is possible when you name a school after them.

    1. Yes. We elect our presidents based on the popular vote so if there is a voting situation they should go with the majority.
    2. They should consider whether that person has contributed to the U.S. If so, they need to see whether or not they contributed in a good way or a bad way. Then they should name the school based on their beliefs and the answers to the questions.

    1. No, they should keep it as it is because he was the top hero of the confederacy. He definitely deserves a school to be named after him. I do not think that they should take that away from Robert E. Lee. Although, if they were to build a new school, they could name it after Donald J. Trump.
    2. What they have contributed to society and their values and/or beliefs to the country should be considered. If they have influenced the lives of people today I think they should have the chance of having a school named after them.

    1. I think if they want to rename the school, that's great, but I don't think they should be naming it after Donald Trump because there will be parents that don't like Trump and don't want there kids going to a school named after him.
    2. You have to take into account that not everyone is going to agree on what to rename because some people may not think that others(Trump) should get a school named after them and some might think that the school name that they have right now is great and don't want it to change.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I personally do not think that Donald Trump has done anything to deserve a school being named after him. I think he would be an OK president but he certainly has not done as much to help this country like Robert E. Lee did. The school should be named after someone that did something significant. All Donald has done is run for president and he hasn't even won yet. What if he gets in office and he is a horrible president? Then that school will be regretting naming it after him... I think they should keep it the same name or name it after someone deserving.

    2. When considering naming a school after someone, you should look at everything that person has done. They should be a model citizen with no hidden emails, no scandals, no affairs like Bentley. A clean average person who has done something spectacular to the point where there is no reason you should not name it after them. Or take Rosa Parks who technically did brake the law back then by not giving up her seat but now we realize what she actually did was very important and needed to be done! That is the type of person you name a school after, not a presidential candidate who has made many mistakes. ( in no way am I endorsing a presidential candidate or dissing a presidential candidate):)

1 well its hard to say because I personally don't want the school to be named that, but if I want my vote to count how can I say not to listen to other peoples votes. So, I would say change the name to Donald J. Trump.
2 Who you are going to name it after why you want to name it after that person, and what problems will naming the school after this person cause.

    1) Not right now. After he wins the election it would be appropriate because we haven't seen whether he is going to mess up the u.s. worse than it already is. And if he's a bad president then we should not because you should not name a school after someone who does nothing for the good benefit of your country.

    2) Partially what I said in my response to question one but also the fact that we should probably get more opinions or wait until Trump does something worthy of having a school named after him. Because if all you are gonna do is be racist, sexist, and build a wall then we shouldn't name a school, yet alone an elementary school, after you.

1.Though it is completely up to the school board, I don’t think they should do it. Donald Trump’s name carries a heavy weight filled with ignorance and racism. While attempting to hold off on any bias, the public's grand opinion of him is derogatory. He hasn’t done much to overall improve anything and school names should pertain to more qualifications than a rich guy running in an election. His would carry just as much controversy and ultimately lead them to the same situation they're in now.
2.There are many qualifications, and they’re all fairly simple minded. The name should carry an overall positive attitude, one this is uplifting, inspiring, or even motivating, it should be someone who has done great things for this nation and acts as a symbol for the things we are founded upon, and possibly even be heroic in some way. There are many schools named after people such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, John F. Kennedy, and Abraham Lincoln. These people stand as symbols of freedom, bravery, and key leaders to our country. Personally, Trump doesn’t quite meet these simple expectations.

    1. Since it was the most popular vote, I think that they should consider naming the school Donald J. Trump Elementary. I also think they should consider taking the top three popular votes and let the school board vote on those names.
    2. They should take into consideration what they have done in society and their impact. Also, their character and how they portray themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1. If renaming the school pleases the community, then let it be renamed after Trump, so be it. Schools are created to help educate schools and sometimes, make the community around the school happy. If naming the school after Trump agrees with the mass majority of the school and communities' citizens, then it should be named after him. It's also possible that more schools will follow suite if the school is renamed after a presidential candidate.

    2. Renaming a school should commemorate someone who's worth it or please the local community. Harper Lee was suggested due to her contribution to the reading community. Renaming a school after a presidential candidate could be beneficial, but if it's a person that many people in that community and/or school system don't think shouldn't be president, then a school in that area shouldn't be renamed.

    1. No because they're basically representing someone who really isn't all that, like hes probably not even going to get voted as president, he's not representing the school at all, in fact hes not involved with the school
    2. well they could gone with the street name that the school is located on or a local park something that's not person and it really shouldn't be named by a person that's not involved. I just don't understand

    1) I don’t believe that they should rename the school after Donald Trump yet because while he is a very distinguished business man and is in the running to become the next president he hasn’t actually won the election yet and so the school should wait to rename it after Trump until he has truly made America great again.
    2) A school should be renamed after someone who has contributed to society or helped the country in some way, but also people need to realize that a lot of these schools are named after great historical figures like Robert E. Lee and they are a part of history that children should learn about. While Lee was the general for the confederacy during the Civil War and fought for slavery to stay he was also a key member in history and while slavery is wrong he is still should be remembered for who he was. In today’s society everything has to be political correct and because of this it is ruining history because you have people who have accepted the past because they know they can’t do anything to change it and have moved on, but you also have people that are very racist and want to dwell on the fact that white people were the cause of slavery and they resent anything that has to do with it. Many people many not realize this, but you need to learn for others mistakes even the bad ones so it never happens again but if you try and cover it up history will eventually repeat itself.

    1. no, i think that the school board should look at other options. they should name the school in honor of a positive, affective, american leader. i believe the other candiates deserve the honor and appreciation over donald trump. I think the people should really evaluate the leaders of their country and what they have done for their country.

2.you should consider what the person you would like to name the school after has done for your country. What important act did they make to change america and leave a good role model on the people who will attend the school. You should name a school to honor someones good works.

    1. Yes, If that is what the community wants, that's what they shall get. We live in a democracy and we vote on decisions. We don't want to be a dictatorship do we?

    1. I believe that they should keep the name in the first place. It's named after a war hero from the confederacy, they have no reason to change it in the first place just because it resembles slavery. It is history! No one had a problem with it before Obama said it was a bad thing. He is taking away any piece of history about the war, news flash... it happened. But if they did change the name of the school why after Trump? I mean I don't support Hillary or Bernie but I guess no one has heard or seen what Trump said about what he thinks about Mexicans which is slightly the same situation. So I believe that they are going to go through this whole problem again.
    2. To begin with you HAVE to make sure they don't offend anyone in any way. Then you need to see if they support gay rights or don't support gun laws. You probably should check their criminal record and anything that they did as a good deed.

1.Not unless he wins the presidential election. He isn't the Governor of Texas so it is stupid to have a Governor from New York having a school with his name in Texas.

    1. No, thats really stupid to be honest. He is no one compared to Robert E. Lee? All he's done is cause controversy in the world so why should someone so inconsiderate have an elementary school named after him.
    2. Whether or not they've actually made a positive impact on the world and the place around them. Donald Trump has done nothing but made other people hate other people.

    1. No. It was disrespectful of whoever suggested that name to suggest it, as it obviously was a joke. Donald Trump has not done anything worth being remembered for therefore there is no reason that anyone should suggest his name. The board should explain this and choose a more appropriate name for the school.
    2. They should choose someone who has made a positive lasting effect on the community. Having something named after you is an honor. You do not honor someone who has done nothing for you. You should also consider how this person will be viewed in the future. If someone has been known to be greedy, rude, self-centered, etc. in the past, they probably will be the same in the future. Do you really want someone who is viewed in any of those ways to represent your school? No.

    1. If the name of the school is dependent on the popular vote of the school board, then yes technically the name of the school would be Donald J. Trump Elementary.

    1. No, the popular vote should not go. The school system should not replace Robert E. Lee with Donald J. Trump. Robert E. Lee was the top hero of Confederate generals and while risking his own life stayed true to his military obligations. While on the other hand, Donald Trump is a grown man who makes fun of other men on television. The difference was only 11 votes so I do not feel like that is a big enough difference to change the school's name.
    2. First of all, the school board needs to make sure that whoever the school is named after has done something that has impacted our society. Secondly, they need to have done something important that the students can learn from.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 1. I'd really like to say no because Donald Trump is actually a painted orange trash can/reality star that should not be held as an example for children, much less be the president of the United States. However, since these (crazy) people in Texas voted for him 45 times (which isn't that big of a number out of 240), then I guess they need to go with the popular vote and rename the school (ew).
    2. Someone who is being honored with a huge tribute like having a school named after them needs to be a person who is more than just famous. They need to be a person who can and will make great change in the world while staying kind, fair, and just; the people who are able to change the world peacefully are the ones who should be remembered and honored.

    1. No they should not. Just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it is right. Trump has done nothing for our country. He has not helped it in any way and a school should not be named after him. Why would you name a school after a racist man? Honestly if you are taking it away from a man who served a purpose in a war just because of what side he was on why would you give it to a man like Trump he is not even our president yet.
    2. What should be taken into account is their importance and who they were to America. Presidents are a good example. They benefited America in one way shape or form. The role the person plays in benefiting our country. I also think authors are okk because it is a school and authors are beneficial to learning.

    1. Yes, I think it would be fitting to make the requested name the schools official new name. This is for a number of reasons, listed but not limited to the following. First, because it would appease the public and give the School board a better public appearance. Secondly, because it was the majority of the requests. Finally it should get the name because by not making it the name, and choosing something else, it would be basically choosing the minority of votes, being unfair.
    2. There should be lots of things considered when picking someone to be the school name. First of all is if their character and work ethic live up to the title. You can not have a unsuccessful person as the name of a school, mainly because it is just not right. Another thing that should be considered is how people would view the school based on the name. If they pick someone with a unfitting name, then the school could be disregarded and viewed as lesser than others. Finally, something else they should consider is whether or not the person chosen can be viewed as a leader. People nominated for things like this are meant to be role models to other individuals, so picking the right person and the right name are essential.

1.)I personally don`t think so just because of those few other people or families that didn't vote for the name Donald J. Trump they will more likely leave that school district and that will be a lot of people lost out of the community
2.) When I think of someone`s name I think of it as you idealize that person or you are either for them or against them, as it said in the article, most votes were favored for Donald J. Trump, when I hear that I immediately think that they would be for everything that he goes for, this is beore I even getthe rest of the story.

    1. No, even though renaming the school “Donald J. Trump Elementary” was the most popular vote, the School District has to think about all that Trump has done throughout his life. First, he is not a good example for kids to follow after because he constantly makes fun of the other candidates during political debates, even if he may be our future president. Secondly, Robert E. Lee was the, “top hero of the Confederacy,” which is a good example for kids to follow after.
    2. When considering whether or not to name a school after someone, the School District should consider all that the person has done, good and bad. If the school was to be renamed “Donald J. Trump Elementary” then the School District would need to look back at all that he has done to see if he really should be representing their school and if he is a good example for the students.

    1. If it’s the popular vote, then the school should be renamed. Even though the choice for the name may be controversial, it would be wrong to deny the citizens of something that was voted for by the majority and doesn’t violate any laws. It could be argued that Congress passing the National Prohibition Act in 1919 is a situation similar to this; the popular vote was a bad idea but was still passed because the majority of congress voted for it, and the result was an increase of organized crime and a myriad of other calamities. However, renaming the school after Trump wouldn’t have an incredibly large impact, and it wouldn’t necessarily be immoral either, so there shouldn’t be any immediate, extreme repercussions. It would be safer to do something that doesn’t have any serious consequences as opposed to refusing to comply with the majority’s virtually harmless desire and end up having to deal with a large group of angry people.

    2. Naming a school after someone portrays the person as a role model for the students, and because of this, the accomplishments and history of whoever the school is being named after should be considered. Their values should reflect those of the citizens in the area of the school as well. If a school was named after Stalin, for example, those associated with the school would be thought to share the same morals as him.

    1. I think they should. The reason I think they should is because that is what the people voted on and it would be unfair to ignore their votes. If people vote on it then the name should be whatever gets the most votes as long as it is appropriate.
    2. I think one of the main considerations is, would the name offend a certain group of people. If you name a school after a certain person you should consider if that will cause controversy because of what that person has done. You should not name a school after someone if that person you are naming it after has done anything that offend a group of people.

    1. To begin with, I just want to clarify that I believe that naming a school after Donald Trump is a very terrible and tacky choice. However, we are talking about a school previously named after a Confederate soldier, so, you know, we’re not really expecting much here. However, if it is popular vote, then that should be its name. Even though my personal beliefs don’t fit with those of the people who are naming this school, the reason we live in America is so the people can decide how their lives are. If this is how these people want to name their school, then we should let them do it. In short, I weep for the future of our country.
    2. When you name a school after someone, you should name it because that person represents the ideals and successes of our nation. While some may argue that Donald Trump does represent these things, I would strongly disagree. Trump admires tyrants, such as Putin, who, in December, he said was a “strong leader”. Really, Trump? In America, we value freedom of thought and expression, not complete political dictatorship. He is also against the equality of all people under law. Trump has suggested many times that we have a “tracking system” for all muslim peoples in the United States, while continuously ignoring the fact that out of 1.6 billion muslims in the world, only about .00006625% of them are extremists. As you can see, when naming a school, you should consider how this person portrays the ideals and values of America, not how rich, racist, sexist, homophobic, all generally terrible they are.

    1. No, I don't think it should be changed to that name. There are plenty of people who don't like Donald Trump. Having him as the name could keep people from wanting to go to that school. Democratic parents might fear that they are trying to change their kids.
    2. It should depend on their accomplishments. it should also depend on the way other people tend to perceive them. They might be a war hero to some, but they could also be a murder to another group of people. Names tend to come with a lot of controversy especially if they hold an important role in society.

    1. No, because first off he's not even elected president yet. Why would you name a school after someone who will be irrelevant if he doesn't win? Donald J. Trump is also not the best person to name a school after in my opinion. Name it after someone who did good for that town/community and will be worthy of it. Trump is not worthy as of right now. Some parents may take their kids out of the school because of Trumps previous decision making. It would not be good.
    2. When considering a name for a school you need to do background checks on the person. See if there's more good to their name than bad. Also what significance is that person to your community/town. If a person is qualified as shown then yes they should be worthy of the name change. You also have to consider why the school was named the first name first though. Past vs the present.

    1. No because that is a very political name for a school and Trump hasn't really been a great leader or person that you would want an elementary school named after.

    2. If the person has done something that would be remembered in a positive way. If the person is running for president currently it shouldn't really be considered because it isn't like everyone wants that person for president.

    1. No, because the people of the United States need to do what's best for the school, not because it has a popular vote.
2.What that person stands for, how are they helping the community, or will they benefit the community.

    1. No, some people might not believe in Donald Trumps thoughts so they would want to send there kid to another school, therefore, the school would lose their money and this is not the best thing so why should they change if they want to keep business.
    2. If everyone believes in the thoughts, if everyone agrees to stay if they change the schools name, and if they don't argue about it too much.

1.) I don't believe that the school should rename it because Robert E Lee was a very important person for our country. Donald Trump had very bad and some good things about him. I think some kids would not be allowed to go to the school because of the name
2.) They should consider the positive and negative characteristics of the person. They should also consider the positive things that the person has done for the community or country. If the person has a bad record, they should not even have a choice of being named a school.

    1. no, because most schools are named after presidents and people who are not looked upon as a bad person. also because there is controversy going on with Trump
    2. if they play a good role in socity,

1.I do not think it would be a good idea in my opinion because I myself do not support Donald Trump. I believe he is not a good role model politically to the citizens of the USA. He likes to humiliate disabled people and scare immigrants. So for an elementary school to have a name of a republican named Donald Trump would be just not a good to the 5 year old and younger.
2.I think we need to consider if this person was a great person inn history and if they have accomplished something great for their country. We do not need to name a school after a person who is not politically informed and educated. So I, myself, do not think they should name a school after Donald Trump because if I was a childs parent at the school I wouldn't want to have a school named Donald Trump.

    1. In my opinion, the school should not rename the school Donald J. Trump Elementary because Donald Trump is not somebody to be proud of. Donald Trump is not a hero. Trump has not made any significant contribution to the United States in any way.

    2. When renaming a school after someone, you should want to name it after someone who made a difference in the world like Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King fought for equality all over the United States and that is why he deserved to be the name of someone's school.

    1. i think yes and no. becouse it is the pop ular vote and what most people would like the school to be renamed to this i think its up to the popular vote, but no becouse Trump has alot of people that dont like him and he is a very controversial man. for instance he has said some very ofensive things about whoemen that people would have 2nd thoughts over when they see his school name. he is also no a hisorical figure yet.
    2. i believe you should look to see if they play a good role in socity, are not controversial, a figure or symbol of united states repersentation and a all around good guy

    1. Donald J Trump Elementary? Who is Donald Trump except a big liar and joke. Donald Trump hasn't did anything for the American people but take their money with his several casinos, golf courses, hotels, and other properties, and may I add that all of these properties bear his name. After all the negative things he has said about races that are not white, if I was a black parent I wouldn't send my child to a school named after a man who's a big joke.
    2. You should think what did this person do to positively affect our country. Is this a person the children can look up to?

    1. They should rename the school. In the presidential election, the person who gets the most votes wins that election for that party. Then, if they have the most votes after that then they become president.
    2. They should name the building after someone who has done something that has positively influenced the community. In Illinois they named a highway after Martin Luther King Jr. because he was such a big impact in our nations history.
