    1. McDonald's
    2. It is someone who begins and operates a business.
    3. They do it to save their businesses and to attract people who are in to the now trendy, hipster, non-corporate restauraunts.
    4. Their logo was a red star, which is a common symbol for communism, and it upset the Vietnamese population.
    5. I think the fast food industry has huge impact on what our country eats. Everyone in America is constantly busy and looking for something fast and easy to eat. The downside is that all the fast-food places are filled with unhealthy, fried foods. Also, many people are on a budget and the cheapest food is always the unhealthiest. Just look at McDonald's.

    1. McDonalds owns The Corner.
    2. An intrapreneur is a manager within a company who promotes innovative product development and marketing.
    3. They do this to earn more money. More stores equals more competition for their competitors.
    4. They messed up when they opened up a Vietnamese sandwich restaurant that had a red star, red in some cases meaning communist, in Dallas, Texas. Many Vietnamese citizens were upset about the restaurant.
    5. Mannnnn... Im not gonna say that its bad to have fast food, but it promotes cheap, horrible, fatty, sloppy, rigged food. I mean if someone is really hungry, theyre gonna roll by McDonalds and order 6 McChickens off the dollar menu. Its cheap and its easy and it seduces us into buying more food, which results in eating more food, which results in obesity and diabetes and irritable bowel syndrome. Their business runs on naive and ignorant, hungry people. Our country is fat. Other countries make jokes about how american women are obese. It needs to stop. At least give them delicious kinda healthy REAL food. Somethings gotta give, and until companies like McDonalds changes things, the only things thats gonna give is the buttons on our jeans.

    1. The Corner is owned by McDonalds.
    2. An intrapreneur is behaving like an entrepreneur while being under a bigger corporation.
    3. There is a growing preference for authentic and real. People want to support smaller businesses right now.
    4. They had an offensive logo that they had to remove and apologize for.
    5. The fast food industry has made us want food in a hurry and neglect home cooked meals. Sometimes my mom will order a pizza on a Friday night so she doesn't have to cook since its a Friday night. Its kinda normal for us now.

    1) McDonalds
    2) A manger that promotes new innovative products and marketing
    3) They want to make money and this sort of thing has become more appealing than a fast food chain restaurant so they are purely doing it to make money.
    4) They ha d a logo that stood for communism on a Vietnamese restaurant which upset many vietnamese
    5) It has made it easy for people to just grab food and go which is extremely unhealthy and bad for people. it has decreased at home meals because its more convenient to just go get food. If i have to go get my sister from cheer practice its easier for me to run through taco bell and get food than go home and make something for both of us when im going to drive by taco bell anyway.

    1. The major food corporation that owns The Corner is McDonalds.
    2. An intrapreneur is someone who works inside the company that develops something that will get the company more money.
    3. Major food corporations try to open independent looking restaurants to try to disguise the major company that is well known and owns it. Also because studies have show that more and more people are wanting to go to an authentic place to eat and this is a way for the major corporation to still get the money.
    4. They opened a Vietnamese sandwich shop in Dallas, Texas and used a red star logo as the symbol which upset the local Vietnamese community.
    5. I think the fast food industry has had a huge effect on the country by Americans becoming more dependent on fast food. Whenever people go anywhere they never have to doubt that there will be a McDonalds or Taco Bell there to eat. It has also allowed Americans to stray away from a home cooked meal most nights of the week. Instead of coming home to cook dinner some will bring take-out home with them. I think this is reflected in the obesity rates. While fast food restaurants say they have a healthy choice, it is still not as good as a home cooked meal.

    1) McDonald
    2) Is a business that is under the same entrepreneur but holds a different name.
    3) Corps. would do that so they could see what new food trends are out there and test the waters, so they wouldn't make a big commitment financially.
    4) When they put out a logo for their Vietnamese brand of red star, that symbolized communism. The Vietnamese got offended because they were refugees from the Vietnam War escaping the communist government; so Yum took it down.
    5) It has a tremendous effect because most fast-food restaurants are UNHEALTHY!!! Since America is trying to become more healthier, it would make since to close some but not all fast-food restaurants. Our eating habits are not the best so I feel like personally that fast-food restaurants are not making them any better; which means America will most likely grow in obesity. I got in a conversation once with someone who made a valid point; he said that fast food restaurants false advertise. When they say "this grilled chicken sandwich is only 200 calories," when really that chicken sandwich is just as unhealthy as the fried chicken sandwich. One more thing, fast-food restaurants have literally dominated Americans mindset when it comes to fast-food. We know its bad for us but we continually eat it. (But I will say, I still like SOME fast-food restaurants who doesn't).

    1. Mcdonalds
    2. A team of employees for taco bell that come up with ideas that are entirely separate from the company.
    3. Because people of our generation have more of an interest in independent restaurants than food chains which are always seen. Therefore if the major foo corporations open clandestine then more people will be interested in it.
    4. It backfired by Yum trying to go so far out there that they went from american food to Vietnamese food and using a communist symbol upsetting many.
    5. As fast-food industries became even popular as the years past I believe it affected our country in bad ways. Such as people began to only eat fast food because it was more of a convience equaling an unhealthy America. Because of this obesity has risen in America causing people in recent years to lay off of fast-food more and more. When people see the affects of unhealthy fast-food they want to eat healthier leaving fast-food industry money income to increase. Although overall economically is has helped the U.S. but in Americans health is has just had a negative effect.

  8. 1. What major food corporation owns The Corner?
    McDonalds
    2. What is an "intrapreneur"?
Creation of new products that's not under usual routines.
    3. Why would major food corporations try to open clandestine, independent-looking restaurants?
Because the location is a learning lab where they come up with new food and beverages.
    4. How did this strategy backfire for the "Yum" brand?
They thought the sandwich shop logo was a symbol of communism and it upset many Vietnamese. They removed the logo.
    5. What effect do you believe the fast-food industry has had on the eating habits of our country? Use real-life examples to back up your response.
People are too lazy to cook! We see flashing signs of food from our left to our right and we immediately spend our money on it because it looks good and sounds good. You don't even have to be hungry, it's just the fact that they are there for you to eat and some are open 24 hrs a day for people who travel and also who gets off late. Yes, the fast-food industry is taking over the country, but people are not aware of what they may be eating!

    McDonalds
Taco Bell employees that came up with different and new ideas to try and increase revenue.
To appeal to consumers who prefer small business and to try and reel in customers who don't like McDonalds but will try something similar not knowing it's owned by McDonalds.
They opened a Vietnamese sandwich shop and had a red star logo which offended the Vietnamese people in the town because it reminded them of Vietnams communist government.
The fast food industry has greatly affected our society. First, it has lessened the number of meals people eat as a family by letting them eat on the go and quickly and it has also greatly increased the obesity level of America because of all the grease and fat in fried fast food.

1.) The major food corporation that owns The Corner is McDonald's.
2.) An intrapreneur is a manager within a company who promotes innovative product development, in this article it was used to describe a team inside The Taco Bell franchise designed to create more interesting ways for the company to make money.
3.) Fast food chains have gotten bad reputations in the past decade for lacking in nutrient and being one of the main sources for childhood obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Other than those facts people have become so accustomed to seeing a fast food chain right down the road, and when a new restaurant opens that expresses something new people automatically want to support it and try it out. By going to a new place, people also feel like they are making the healthier choice which is why major food corporations would open restaurants like The Corner.
4.) The Yum brand accidentally used a red star to promote their Vietnamese styled restaurant, which is a common sign of communism. Vietnam is currently a country run for communism, and people became offended by the slipup.
5.) If you look at the trends of society as it progresses you will see that as time progresses people have less and less time to cook dinner or consciously think about healthy eating. We are that generation that "wants it now" and if we don't get it right away we complain. Fast food gives us exactly what we ask for food right when we want it, which is why it has become rampant in our society. We as a society are so busy that we don't think about what we are putting into our mouth or how it will affect our bodies, which is why fast food is so ideal. We can pull into a McDonald's, order a high fat meal for a reasonable price, pay and leave within five minutes without even leaving our cars. Fast food has decreased family meal times, encouraged eating food on the go, and advertising eating for happiness and a feeling of power. Burger King's logo is " Have It Your Way" and McDonald's is " I'm loving it" implying that you are in control of what your eating and that makes you an empowered individual.

2.An employee of a corporation that is given the freedom to create new ideas for the business without following the protocol of the corporation it works for.
    3. Because this generation prefers authentic, small-business, unique restaurants with different foods.
    4. This backfired on the "Yum" brand because they put a red star, which is the symbol for Communism, on their Vietnamese restaurant.
    5. I think that fast-food is great because I love food; however, I think fast food has become a normal routine in American family dinners and such instead of a pit stop for food when traveling. For instance, my family enjoys eating home-cooked meals together, almost every night and of course when we are traveling or spending time with friends, then we might get fast food, but some of my friends' families prefer to go out and eat fast food dinner every night.

2.A team from Taco belle that came up with an entirely new idea that charges 3$-4$ a taco.
    3. They start ones like this because people like to support independent businesses, instead of franchises, and to also and try to be hip.
    4. It put up a red star that Vietnamese took as communist and got very offended.
    5. I think that fast-food has affected everyone in one way or another. Fast-food is easy, fast, and cheap. It also is very unhealthy, but tastes great. i think it has halped the obesity rate go up in our country. I know plenty of people who try to lose weight, will work out and everything; but when your in a hurry, you go grab fast food, and you cant lose that 5 pounds. Especially in Tuscaloosa, there is not that much to do, so one thing that we can all do is go eat. There is a McDonald's,Taco Belle, and many more fast food restaurants around each corner, which just tempts us to go eat there even more. Fast-food has a major role in our society, a bad habit that is almost impossible to break.

    3) they want to open clandestine restaurants because people, mainly young ones know that fast food is not healthy and want to support local places so they want to get back those people by making "hipster" restrauants.
    4) they tried making a vietnamise sandwhich shop and their logo was a red star and made the locals made because it is a communist symbol.
    5) fast food has made our country more unhealthy and is every where in our culture and not in a good way.

    4. Because they used a red star logo, which is a sign of communism, and it was offensive to the Vietnamese.

    3. To possibly bring a new clientele and to test new food ideas without it being associated with the corporation.
    4. They opened up a Vietnamese store in Dallas with a red star logo. The red star is often associated with communism so Vietnamese people were mad about it.
    5. It has made us more accepting of foods that are bad for our health. It also goes right along with our fast paced busy lives. For example, when I have a golf match and then have to make it to church which lasts until 8:15, I might run by chik-fil-a for dinner.

3.) Major companies try to open smaller restaurants to regulate competition in a way but to also make more money under another name.
4.) The Yum Brand opened up a shop with a communist logo that upset the Vietnamese community in Dallas.
5.) The fast food industry seems to have made more and more Americans somewhat dependent on the popular fast food chains you see everywhere. In recent years, the consumption of fast food has risen exponentially. In most cases it can almost be guaranteed that most Americans go to a fast food place at least once a month.

    4. They opened a sandwich shop in a Vietnamese community and it had a red star logo, the symbol of communism, and it upset everyone in the community.
    5. I think the fact that it is so cheap, more people eat there rather than choose to eat healthier when it cost more. It is making everyone more unhealthy. I know for sure when I have to get something quick to eat after school and my mom's not home to cook, it's super easy to go to through a drive through and get McDonald's, because I only have a couple of dollars.

    1.) McDonald's owns The Corner.
2.) Well, the article doesn't explicitly say what they are but "intra" means inside. & an entrepreneur is an independent business person who creates their own ideas. So, an "intrapreneur" is someone who creates ideas for a corporate business. Or, at least I would imagine.
3.) Because sales for major food corporations are declining, even though only by small numbers. & people according to a study are wanting to eat at independently owned restaurants, so these major food corporations are opening smaller businesses that appear to be independently owned to maintain some revenue and reach their old or new clients.
4.) They opened a Vietnamese Sandwich shop in Dallas, Texas with a Red Star logo which is a symbol for Communism. This angered the Vietnamese refugees in Dallas because they aren't the biggest fans of Vietnam's Communist Government. So, the "Yum" organization apologized and took down the logo.
5.) I think fast food restaurants have had both positive and negative effects on our country. Providing easy options for food for teens on late nights, making memories, and having the experiences of a lifetime. Or providing routine places to eat on certain days of the week. Like after wednesday night church or, friday night family outings. While, like anything, too much in excess is a bad thing. When eating at fast food restaurants becomes habitual it may become a problem. Often blamed for the obesity rate in America, fast food becomes a problem when used out of proportion. & with so many techniques used to make the food taste good, eating fast food has become habitual in many places and in many cases in America.

    5. I feel like the fast-food industry has a negative impact on the eating habits of our country. Even though it may be easier and faster to go through a drive-thru, it is unhealthy and ends up being more expensive than buying and cooking your food. For example, we can buy groceries at the beginning of the week and even though it may take more time, we can cook and eat those meals. If we didn't and just went through a drive-thru, it is more expensive and we do not know what we are putting into our bodies.

However with this being the case, food is much more accessible making it easier to just go and grab a bite whenever you want. While this very useful it also causes a problem: when food is that easy to get to people will over do it. 4. "Yum" brand had a communist logo on their Vietnamese sandwich shop and it upset them because the majority do not like their communist government.
    5. I believe the fast-food industry has had negative effects on our country. We are labeled as a "fat country" because of our eating habits, which are nowhere near healthy. Diabetes is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the US. The negative health effects are shown in the documentary "Super Size Me" and the GMO foods are shown "Food, Inc." Genetically modified foods with added hormones are proven to to show a more rapid growth rate in prepubescent children as well as becoming obese. Obesity is obviously a huge problem in the US and the quicker we detach ourselves from the self-reliance on our popular fast-food chains, the quicker we can become less unhealthy. The more we pay them to make us unhealthy, the longer these major food chains will be in business. It only makes logical sense to avoid the convenience in fast-food and switch over to healthier choices.

    5. The fast-food industry made many people in our country becoming more aggressive when they don't have their food fast enough or when restaurants serve them the wrong order. For example, a couple of months ago, one lady ordered a hamburger without ketchup at McDonalds' drive-up. After leaving McDonalds and seeing that her hamburger got ketchup on it, she belligerently marched into McDonalds yelling and screaming at the employees that they got her order wronged. When the employees said that they can change her order and give her a new one, not only she wasn't satisfied with it but she kept yelling that they shouldn't get her order wrong in the first place.
