  1. 1. Cruz announces his opinion on climate change because he feels that data isn't supporting what people are claiming
    2. Cruz uses deductive reasoning
    3. Cruz claims that the climate is always changing and not just over the years
    4. I agree. He is 100% right because the climate does change daily, even hourly, it gets hotter and it gets colder. Has been like that as long as i can remember... doesn't mean it's global warming

  2. 1) He wants to challenge the belief that global warming and climate change can be used as a weapon and propose new ways to get energy without relying on the federal government.
    2) He talks of a big issue as if it were a light issue and exaggerates what Kerry said with understatements. He claims Kerry sees a bigger threat in an SUV than Iranian nuclear weapons, which is a huge exaggeration.
    3) It includes oil drilling and searching for new ways to get energy and repealing "harmful" EPA regulations.
    4) I agree with his claim that the climate is constantly changing and Earth's climate does not appear to be warming, and I agree we should pursue alternative ways to attain energy for the future.

Ted Cruz is announcing his opinion on climate change because he is trying to get his point across that data is not supporting what the advocates are arguing. He is promoting his new energy plan. Also, Secretary of State John Kerry is employing Ad Ignorantum. This is because he claims that climate change is the world's most fearsome weapon just because it has not been proven false. Cruz's energy proposal includes more oil drilling and expanding energy exploration and repealing many EPA regulations. I agree with Cruz's stance on climate change because climate changes everyday.

    1. Cruz feels that climate change is being blown out of proportion and is being made a bigger deal than it actually is. He also feels that there is more emphasis being put on climate change than what is going on in Iran.
    2. strawman
    3.alternative sources of energy
4.I agree that we do put more emphasis on it than we should but I disagree that global warming does not exist. I also agree that climate change does take place often and it does exist.

  6. Cruz is announcing his opinion on climate change because he is about to introduce his own energy plan. He is trying to promote his agenda in that global warming is not real and that his energy plan will help America. The logical fallacy he is using when he attacks John Kerry is ad hominem because instead of really attacking climate change he is more so attacking John Kerry as a person. The types of energy reform Cruz wants to make more oil drilling, less EPA regulations, and allowing for the private sector to pursue different energy innovations instead of the government. In his mind, we should be exploring every type of energy not limiting ourselves to only a few. Yes, I do agree with Cruz's stance on climate change. I realize that because scientists say global warming or climate change is real other people believe it; but, I do not agree with the scientists or anyone who says global warming is real. The earth changes temperature all the time and has been since the beginning of time. Just because it may be more noticeable now does not mean it is life threatening. All in all, I do not believe global warming is real and I agree with Cruz.

  7. Cruz is speaking on climate change because he is trying to promote his new
energy plan because he says there has been no change in global warming over 15
years even though they say there has been. He plans to introduce his plan to the
senate and he is pushing this agenda in his news release. Cruz is employing Ad
Homniem fallacy because Cruz seems to be attacking Kerry rather than the
argument, or Stawman because he doesn't focus much on his position and he
presents an exaggerated one. His proposal includes many traditional GOP ideas –
more oil drilling and expanding energy exploration and repealing many EPA
regulations he calls harmful. Yes, I believe something should be done about
global warming. There should be more oil drilling and we should cut back on
things that are harmful to our environment. The problem should not be looked
    over and ignored.

    1. Cruz is trying to eliminate barriers on all types of energy, and to get support for this agenda he discredits climate change.
    2. He employs an ad hominem fallacy when he claims that Kerry is more concerned with my SUV then Iranian nuclear weapons.
    3. In his proposal, he only mentions oil drilling and other traditional forms of energy. In his interview, however, he states that he supports alternative forms of energy as well.
    4. As long as he truly supports alternative forms of energy as well, then yes, I agree. I think their should be less barriers on advances on energy, and that America can't be scared of the consequences of progress.

1.) Ted Cruz announces this in order to explain that over time global warming and global cooling, have not yet been supported by any data. Also, Cruz was promoting his new energy plan.
2.) Cruz is employing ad hominem fallacy because he is mainly focusing on Kerry;s personality rather than the overall issue. Also he is also showing a straw-man argument fallacy because he is taking one of Kerry's actions and making it out to be a major deal.
3.) Cruz's energy reforms include more oil drilling, expanding energy exploration and repealing many EPA regulations which he says are harmful.
4.) I agree with Cruz's point on climate change because I believe that the climate is always changing not due to the act of humans.

  12. Ted Cruz is announcing his views on climate change to promote his new energy plan that will be introduced next week. His energy plan calls for more oil drilling, energy exploration, repealing many EPA regulations, alternative energy from the private sector. I disagree with Cruz’s stance on climate change. 16. Ted Cruz is announcing his opinions because he believes that it is irrelevant compared to the issue of Iran's nuclear threat. He is trying to discredit Kerry's sudden attention to climate change, but he believes that it is unimportant compared to issues in the Middle East. He reasons with folly that Kerry is at fault for not truly interested in what is best for the country. Cruz's energy reforms would involve clean energy being produced by the private sector, with no government interference or influence. I do believe with his stance on climate change, because it is proven that Earth's climate is, and always has been changing due to natural processes. 18. Senator Ted Cruz recently spoke to CNN about his stance on global warming and the climate change that seems to be affecting earth in a negative way. Seems like an odd time to be giving his opinions around the time of his new energy plan, right? Wrong, this is exactly why he went on the record and said that there was no data to support the warming of the earth. His energy plan involves the burning of more fossil fuels, which have been shown to cause global warming. He wants to “inform” America that this problem does not actually exist, so that they will be in favor of his plan. When Cruz talks about Secretary of State John Kerry's recent remarks regarding climate change, he uses a non sequitur argument that discredits everything he is saying. He takes John Kerry’s remarks that global warming is the worst weapon and tries to show that because he thinks this way then he thinks a car is more deadly than the entire country of Iran. The statement is not even logical because there is no way a car is dangerous than an entire country, making it a non sequitur argument. His reforms include all of the normal Republican ideas, such as more drilling for oil and money for the private sector. He also wants some EPA regulations that are “harmful”, more or less meaning they don’t fit his agenda, to be eliminated. His reforms are basically for everything that is known to cause the rise in temperature across the globe. I do not agree with Cruz’s stance on global warming because I do think there is reason and data to show that it is real. My aunt’s house in Alaska is slowing being flooded by the lake near her, due to the glaciers around it melting and raising the water levels. NASA has data to support the rise in temperature as well following the industrial revolution and the factories that have been questioned with adding to the rise. Greenland has begun melting and getting smaller with strong data supporting that the rise in CO2, the gas that traps in heat, has been causing the earth to heat up. I feel as if Cruz only said this to try and get his agenda to pass, so that his supporters can go back to burning fossil fuels and making money, not even caring at all about what it is doing to the environment.

  20. Ted Cruz is announcing his idea about climate change to help push his agenda to win in the senate next week. His agenda is trying to open up more ways to get energy. he wants the government to tap into more of the energy that is available on American soil. Things like climate change should not hold American back from expanding, because the climate is always going to change. He is employing a straw man type of argument and in a way over generalization because " "perhaps - perhaps the world's most fearsome weapon of mass destruction." " is a vague statement . It is talking about the climate change but it can be interpreted in many ways. It is not showing a certain side or aim, it is just stating an opinion. It is a weak argument. Cruz energy reform proposal includes more oil drilling and alternative energy that are supported by private investors. I do and do not agree with Cruz stance on climate change. The climate is changing and it is having a devastating effect on the environment. Animals are going exctint and many natural habitats are gone prematurely. The cars and factories are putting way too much carbon dioxide in to the atmosphere. The weather around the world is going bonkers. The south had snow! however, it is hard to believe since science always seem to have a theory about almost everything , but theory is not always permanent. It is a starting point to try an understand a problem. This would not be an issue if America tried to clean our act in regards to how we carry ourselves and treat our homeland.

    3) Cruz proposes expanded oil drilling and cutting back on EPA regulations. He does not mention renewable energy in his plan.
    4) I agree with some points but disagree on some as well. I agree that there is no global warming, and it that is just simply climate change; however, many fossil fuels are being burned and it causes heavy pollution which is ruining the environment. Burning fossil fuels does, however, change climate. It has been proven that since the technological era, the climate across the globe as fluctuated at an increases rate, not necessarily one direction more than the other. So in conclusion, there are valid and arguable points in Cruz's opinion and invalid, undefendable ones as well.

Ted Cruz announces his opinions on climate change, because global warming was stated as one the world's main problems. Ted Cruz argues that global warming was never supported by data, and that it is not necessarily global warming as the problem. The climate can change everyday, and he argues that there is no correct scientific theory that could fit the scenario that fits this specific environmental problem. In his agenda to the press in his news release, Cruz is trying to promote a new energy plan. Cruz is employing a straw-man and ad-hominem logical fallacys as he talks about Kerry's recent remarks regarding the climate. His proposal include many GOP ideas, more oil drilling, and expanding energy exploration and repealing many EPA regulations he may think as harmful. We just need to do like the climate and continue changing ourselves. Hopefully for the better and try to cause as little harm to the world as possible.

  28. Ted Cruz doesn't have an "agenda". He is merely stating that America needs energy independence. The republicans in congress are trying to get the regulations by the EPA lifted. Their pushing their agenda that global warming is without a doubt a fact. Teds just trying to say that that science is not proven. One decade, it was called global cooling, the next global warming, and now climate change. He is trying to say it is not real because he wants more jobs in America and American energy independence. If I had to choose, I would say that he employed an ad hominem argument for he attacks some part of Kerry's character, but it was not completely ad hominem for he more so attacked Kerry's argument. More oil drilling within the continental US and to open up that drilling the EPA regulations need to be scaled back because we're not the reason for global warning. Yes, I completely agree with Cruz's stance on climate change. The climate has always been changing and it is not because of us it is a natural occurrence. I also agree with his stance that America should become more energy independent. Right now we are paying countries that had/have intensions of creating nuclear bombs to kill us with, for energy. Ted Cruz is announcing his opinions on climate change because he claims that "over last 15 years, there has been no recorded warming"; he's insinuating that because global warming is noted as a scientific theory it has been made to fit "fit every scenario". In regards to Senator Kerry's recent remarks Cruz makes a generalization about Islamic people and their intentions as a whole instead of as individuals. Cruz's energy proposals includerepealing EPA regulations, more oil drilling, and expanding energy resources.
I do not necessarily agree with Cruz's stance on climate control. Although the expansion of resources is pragmatic and somewhat necessary, I believe that instead of trying to spend more money looking for outlets we've already honed, we should spend money on enforcing them across the board, be it the United States or the rest of the world. I cannot recall once going across the city of Tuscaloosa and coming across a charging station for electric cars. The new facets of energy should be employed unconditionally.

    1) By announcing his "opinion" on the matter, Ted Cruz is not only further convincing the public of his blatant ignorance, but he is trying to push an agenda for worrying about other things besides the issue of global warming. He is attempting to point the public in the direction of the Middle East instead of having them worry about enviornmental problems. Though he later comes back with an assertion that he is trying to fund research for alternative energy, the fact that he is drilling more oil to do this further supports that he has no idea what the atmosphere is, what it does, or what effect pollution from burning fossil fuels has on it.

    2) Cruz attempts to apply an ad hominem argument by putting Kerry in a bad light with his own stance on climate change. The fact that Kerry's involvement overseas, as well as Kerry's personal opinion on the matter, has nothing to do with the subject at hand hurts Cruz's argument more than anything.

    3) Cruz suggests a form of alternative energy provided by individuals instead of the government, and somehow he thinks this can be accomplished by drilling more oil. While oil is a valid energy source right now, the fact that he isn't using alternative energy already does not help his case on the whole "global warming doesn't exist" argument.

    4) I do not agree with Cruz's stance on global warming. He apparently does not understand that the Earth's atmosphere acts as insulation that both protects Earth's surface from extremely harmful UV rays as well as helps regulate Earth's temperature. If precautions are not taken to prevent the breakdown of the atmosphere, the Earth will continue to have more fluctuating temperatures due to its inability to regulate its surface temperature. Information is why I don't agree with Cruz's ignorant claim.

  33. Ted Cruz is announcing his opinion because he wants to be involved with the global warming debate and wants to try and make a change. He revealed his new energy plan that is on his agenda. He proposed many of the GOP ideas and increasing the amount of exploration for energy sources. When Ted Cruz talks about John Kerry's statement on climate change, he employs two types of logical fallacies that are categorized as informal. The first informal fallacy is "Argument from silence" because throughout the entire interview, Cruz's main theory is how climate change isn't real and how instead of having evidence that proves climate change is real, we need to look into the evidence of how it isn't real. So he criticizes Kerry's theory because he thinks Kerry only looks at what proves climate change to be real, instead of looking at how it isn't real. The second informal fallacy Cruz develops is "Argument from repetition" because Cruz signifies how since the 70's climate change and global warming has been an issue, but nothing has changed, which is why he thinks it's not real. Cruz's theory is that climate change has been going on since the 70's..which proves that it's been discussed extensively, but it's at the bottom of to-do list for America. This is how Cruz develops the fallacy when saying Kerry is more worried about the SUV in his garage rather than war. Cruz's theory is that climate change has been going on since This is why Cruz says "it is ironic he sees a greater threat from his SUV in his driveway rather than he does from the nation of Iran." Cruz's energy plan includes the ideas of GOP ideas, increasing amount of exploration for energy sources, and repealing many of the EPA regulations enacted from the past 5 years. I disagree with Ted Cruz's stance on climate change. Climate change is real and is happening on our planet earth. There's more evidence of climate change that proves it exists than evidence that proves it's not real.

  34. Ted Cruz is presenting his opinions on climate change because he is trying to persuade people that climate change isn't real and trying to present an energy plan instead. His agenda is to present a new energy plan and to prove that there are more important problems that we know for sure that are true and we aren't doing anything about them. Cruz is implying the logical fallacy of ad hominem. He is attacking Kerry's argument, which is that negotiating with Iran is historically a bad idea, to discredit Kerry's argument and make his stronger without having to get too involved. As said above, Cruz proposal includes many traditional GOP ideas – more oil drilling and expanding energy exploration and repealing many EPA regulations he calls harmful. I disagree with Ted Cruz. I believe climate change is real. Not just because the climate is changing but because its changing in a type of pattern that occured in the mid to late 20th century. Humans are causing most of it through activities that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as deforestation and burning fossil fuels.
