It is very funny that the commander's last name is Salami. He said that there are thousands of brigades ready to confront America. Salami is making this threat in order to keep the United States from interfering with Syria. Geneva is significant to this situation because it is the place where Iran and the 5+1 world powers reached an interim agreement over the regime's illicit nuclear program. In my opinion, the United States should respond to the threats by stepping up and using force, or any necessary tactics in order to eliminate the problem.

  3. It is quite hysterical that the commander of Iran's name is salami. His threat is that if we interfere in Syria, Iran and many other Islamic states have many brigades that will fight against us. He is making this threat because he doesn't want America to interfere in Syria's civil war that has been going on for several years. Geneva is significant to this because Iran & the 5 +1 members signed an agreement there to cut Iran's enrichment of uranium and to have inspectors come check certain facilities. I believe we should make a sandwich and eat him. Hehe, but we need to make a strong stand against Iran being allowed to enrich the uranium that can easily be converted into nuclear weapons which can then threaten in a more realistic way both Israel and the US. - Morgan House

  4. Haha I have to say it would be pretty hard taking a man seriously with the last name "Salami." It would make me think of the sausage every time. Salami's threat to the US is that if we were to step in between the civil war going on in Iran against Syria then Iran would call the sleeping terrorists in the US right now to attack and strike the US in the most important places. He is making this threat because he truly hates the US and believes it is not our place to interfere in a war "that has been going on for many years." Geneva is significant because the "Geneva Peace Accord," made in Geneva in 1954, which is like a rulebook countries around the world. Basically, after the Vietnam War we created this document which said Indochina needed to be treated with respect and given "territorial integrity and sovereignty" and this can also be applied to many other countries. However, not very many countries, though they agreed to it, even follow the Geneva Accords. Plus, there have been a lot of peace conferences in Geneva because Switzerland is a neutral country that seems like a good place to have negotiations. All in all, I believe for one thing we should not get involved in this civil war in Iran because it is their civil war and we are unwanted. It is their problem and responsibility and stepping in would only cause so many problems as it already has with the Benghazi affair. In relation to Salami's threat however, I believe the US should not back down and we should rise up to him and show him we are not afraid of him. The US should not make threats, we do not need to sink to his level, but we do need to be strong.

  5. It's funny that the commanders last name is Salami hahaha he must have the meat
on the US. The threat against the US is that Iran will start a war in the US, using Iranians that live in the US already. He is making this threat because the US wants to interfere with the civil war happening in Syria and wants to negotiate with Iran and rid them of their nuclear power by paying them off. Geneva is a place were the UN usually met to solve major conflicts between nations in the past. The Us should respond to the threats by preparing for the worst, including, nuclear attacks, wars, and more. The US should continue negotiating and also returning threats with more threats.

  6. It is very funny that the commanders last name is Salami because salami is a cured sausage that is air-dried and fermented. The threat against the U.S. is an attack on the country from within. Salami is making this threat because John Kerry had said if Iran did not comply with the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program reached in Geneva then “all options are on the table.” In order to respond to this, the threat was made. Geneva is significant because that is where the agreement was made between the UN Security Council and Iran on Iran’s nuclear program. The U.S. should use a laissez-faire approach when dealing with this situation. They should not be so controlling of other countries, and if they loosen up the regulations a little then Iran will probably comply with the Geneva agreement to avoid a potential war.

  7. 1) Very funny.
    2) He's claiming there are brigades ready to attack America in the Islamic Republic and other places, as well.
    3) He doesn't want America to get involved with Syria, and he's making these threats in hopes America will back out of the situation.
    4) Geneva is the meeting place of the world powers where they came to conclude that Iran would calm down their nuclear power plants and bomb supply.
    5) I think we shouldn't be swayed by what anyone says. We should act on morals and do whatever is best for the Syrian people. A lot of claims have been made that countries and powers are wanting to "confront us," but if we act based on our own beliefs we can at least be remembered as a super-awesome nation of nice people.

  8. 1) On a scale from 1-10, the last name of Salami is an 8.7342948372, because I like Salami on my Italian sandwiches from Subway.
    2) That he will take military action against the United States if the United States tries to interfere with Syria's civil war.
    3) He views America as an economic, political, cultural, and strategic inferiority and is tired of the United States intervening in other country's affairs.
    4) The meeting at Geneva is significant because it set ground rules for Iran to follow with their nuclear weapons and General Salami is against outside interference with one's country. He advises for Iran to not accept the demands, which could put the world at war.
    5) I think the United States should submit to the demands of Salami and pull out other country's. They should not pull out of fear but because the United States should not be involved in other country's political issues. Let the people of the country decide the country's fate, not an outside country. A country should be governed by its own people; however, the United States should intervene when other countries have nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons are incredibly dangerous and could lead to mankind's destruction if in the wrong hands. Their should be legislation to make sure one country does not become too powerful. In conclusion, the United States should pull out of politics, but not military.

The fact that the commander's last name is Salami is not funny, but his threat against the US is that brigades of the Iranian Republic are ready and willing to confront the US if the US attempts to interfere with Iran's civil wars. He is making this threat because he does not want the US to interfere with domestic problems in Iran. Geneva is significant to this situation because the previous agreement made there allows Iran to keep its nuclear weapons (in exchange for billions of dollars) as long as "agreed-on" facilities are inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency. In my opinion, the US should not try to interfere with domestic issues in Iran, or any other country, unless it proves to be a threat to national, or international, security. Whenever there is an international threat, there are certain measures that can be taken, such as international conferences, that will determine a proper course of action.

    1. It is quite funny that the commander's last name is Salami.
    2. Salami threatened to attack the United States from within, if the US attacks the Islamic Republic.
    3. As a way to scare US officials into not taking military action against Iran, should the agreements made at Geneva be compromised.
    4. Geneva is where the U.N. created guidelines and limitations to Iran's nuclear program, for the safety of all the countries involved.
    5. If I were the one making the decision, war would not be my first option. I would try to talk them back into the agreements. At the same time, we can't let the terrorists scare us out of enforcing the rules we helped create. The whole world would be watching to see if we would be persuaded by the military's threats, or if we really are "the home of the brave".

  11. A person’s name should never have any connotative relevance relating to their character. Simply because General Salami may have a funny sounding name, does that mean there’s no real threat? I mean funny people aren’t normally associated with violence. Another man’s name could be Ryan Kill; does this mean that he is a murderer? No, names do not have a connotative relevance because they are not associated with someone’s character; the person is just born with it. So, General Salami’s name is not funny because it is just a name and has no other relevance besides as identification. General Salami’s threat is that Iran has members in the United States that they are going to use to take down the US from within. He states that each of the members already have targets to attack and are only waiting for their order to do so. The General is making the threat to try and prevent the United States from attacking the Islamic Republic, which has become a possibility due to Iran refusing to abide by the agreement reached in Geneva on its nuclear program. Geneva is significant in this situation because Iran is not conforming to the agreement that was made during the conference. The United States is looking to use force, but the General has posed this threat if they do. The United States should take the threats very seriously because these are threats by an entire military, not just a single person or small group. I think they should try to find other ways to avoid using force because the threat may be acted upon. Bombs have been threatened before in many major cities, such as the one given to a New Jersey Courthouse in early 2014. The difference though is that these threats are, again, only by a single person who would have a hard time doing it alone and the other is by an entire government, which easy have the ability. My uncle recently returned from fighting in the Middle East and he stated the same thing that General Salami did in the article about the US not being able to effectively stand up against the Islamic there. So, I do not feel as if the US should attack Iran themselves, since they still have nuclear weapons as well. They should just take the threats as legitimate and continue to try and peacefully talk down the Islamic Republic.

  13. 1. How funny is it that the commander's last name is Salami? It is very rib-tickling!
    2. What is his threat against the US? That his forces have plans in place to attack the United States from within if the U.S. attacks the Islamic Republic.
    3. Why is he making this threat? He is making this threat because he does not want the U.S to attack the Islamic Republic.
    4. Why is Geneva significant to this situation? Geneva is important because the Islamic Republic signed an interim agreement in November over the regimes illicit nuclear program that will keep Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to convert its highly enriched uranium of 20 percent to harmless oxide, and will allow more intrusive inspections of its nuclear plants by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which will be limited to searching only agreed-on facilities.
    5. In your opinion, how should the US respond to the threats of the Revolutionary Islamic Regime and General Salami? The US should be very cautious because the threats coming from the Revolutionary Islamic Regime include them conducting a blow in which America will be destroyed from within. They should also consider some response because Iran did not live up to the agreement reached in Geneva on its nuclear program that was agreed upon in November. --Kelsey Skurka

    1. It is pretty darn funny!
    2. Salami said that there are thousands of brigades ready to confront America both within the Islamic Republic and outside the country. He then warned Iran’s politicians to remain strong during the negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and — based on the might of the country — not give in to U.S. demands.
    3. Because of money (over $500 million has been deposited into the country’s bank account)
    4. Iran and the 5+1 world powers (the five permanent U.N. Security Council members plus Germany) reached an interim agreement in Geneva.

Its funny that is name is Salami because salami is also a kind of meat. That if the U.S. interferes with the Syrian Civil War then Islam will retaliate against the United States. He wants to keep the U.S. from gaining influence in the region. Geneva is significant because it was the agreement between NATO and Iran to begin to shutdown its nuclear program. I think the U.S. should respond to Iran saying that it will not interfere with the war unless necessary and that we are not afraid of their threats.

  25. Ha ha, Mr. Ray:) It's VERY funny.
His threat against the US is that he and his regime plan on soliciting/activating targets that are supposedly located within the US.
He is making this threat because he feels that America's influence is too prominent within Iran's neighboring countries (Iran).
Geneva is significant because they have agreed to support the Iranians and they possess the uranium oxide needed.
They should come to a consensus,an agreement with the Iranian commander, However, it seems that that is inevitable because they seem to hold a very strong opposition to the American government, cultural etiquette, and political structure. A response that the US could take safety precautions by locating these alleged "targets". While doing this, they could attempt a temporary consensus with the Iranian commander even if in doing this they would go against a certain past president's words...

It's funny that the commander's last name is Salami, because Salami is the name of a meat. I really have no idea. He makes a threat to the U.S, that terrorist Hezbollah forces (allies of Iran) have found their targets to attack the U.S, and that they are ready to attack the U.S. after recognizing America's strong military and military strategies.Salami is making this threat to warn those that Iran is not scared and that they are ready to embark on any war with any country that is against them. Geneva is significant to the situation because Iran reached an interim agreement in November discussing their nuclear program that they were planning to use to attack the U.S. I feel that the U.S. should keep their eyes open and try to keep Iran forces from attacking. It would actually be funnier if he was an Italian butcher.
Anyway, General Salami is threatening the US with a series of attacks from within, saying that Iran has already located targets in the US., in case the Us attacked the Islamic Republic. His purpose is to take control of the situation between the two countries and push the US to take a step back using a strategy of terror.
His threat is actually a response to a declaration made by Secretary of State John Kerry: if Iran did not fulfill the terms of the agreement reached in Geneva on its nuclear program, "all options are on the table". To the Geneva agreement participated Iran and the five U.N. Security Council members plus Germany.
Iran's threat is the response to a US "threat" that was actually a demand to Iran to abide by the terms of the Geneva agreement; there should be no attack if Iran planned to do so. The US should control that these terms are respected as diplomatically as possible; after all, the main purpose would be not only to protect the country, but also the original goal of the agreement, to decrease and regulate Iran's nuclear power.

  28. I do not understand why it is so funny, but yes, the fact that the commander's last name is Salami is pretty humorous. His threat against the US is that there are of thousands of brigades ready to confront America in both the Islamic Republic and outside the country. He also says that the Iranian politicians need to remain strong during negotiations and not give into the US demands. Salami is making this threat because he does not believe that the US has the ability to interfere with a country that has been under civil war and that the US should not even be able to produce any sort of anything there. Geneva is significant to this situation because in Iran the amount of nuclear weapons was irrelevant, in Geneva it is, in fact they are not allowed. The US should not respond to the threats of the Revolutionary Islamic Regime and General Salami. They should keep a close eye in case they are needed but unless an emergency, they should stay away from this task.

It is indeed funny that the commanders last name is "Salami". The threat against the US that is being made is that if we interfere in Syria, Iran and many other Islamic states have brigades that will fight against us. This threat is being made because the US is not wanted in their Civil War. The agreement made in Geneva is significant to this situation because it states that in Iran, reduction of nuclear programs is required which contradicts the statement made. In my opinion, I think the US should stay out of it.

  30. Yes, it's funny that his last name is Salami. Salami's threat to the U.S. is there are many groups within the Islamic Republic and outside of the country that will fight the U.S. in order for them not to interfere. He is making this threat because he wants the U.S. out of Iran. Geneva is significant because Iran is in an agreement with the U.N. and Germany, and in that agreement Iran is receiving billions of dollars that could possibly be used to support the terrorist group Hezbollah. I think that in order to prevent future conflict between the U.S. and Iran, the U.S should listen to what General Salami is saying and stay out of their country.

  32. It is quite the giggle that his last name is Salami. It's not necessarily that he's making a "threat" to America. He's just making a point that if America trys to interfere with the Islamic Republic, we would be destroyed. He's not only speaking for the military in the Islamic republic, but he's speaking for himself. That's why he's seen as a target because he's saying he will destroy America IF they interfere with this other country. Why is he making this threat? Well it's a given that he does not like America and he envys the fact that we have so much power. Geneva is significant because Islamic republic has a bank account there that they get money from to support their terrorists groups. And it makes you think are other countries involved with them? If they're getting money from a different country, then they have to have some kind of agreement going on. It's a scary thought. The US should respond this way...a cool, calm, collected way. We can't just go start blowing people up because of hearsay. However, I do think the US should be more strict on access from other countries to the US. And I think if things like this happen, the US need to be ready & cautious. But, respond in a professional manner, because if you accuse, it's racial profiling. They have to respond carefully.
