Edward Snowden is an intelligence leaker, seeing as though last May he released information stating that the government was collecting and listening in on phone calls and text messages. The government even was monitoring internet traffic and watching conversations between foreigners. Snowden resides in Russia for refuge and the leaker of the documents is now a broadcaster that had analyzed them. Snowden is a hero for doing what was right for our privacy. While the government wants to protect the U.S. there are other ways than snooping.

    1. Edward Snowden is the man who "leaked" government secrets.
    2. If he were residing in the U.S. or any other country the U.S. has "treaties" with he would be reprimanded but, since Russia is not obligated to hand over Snowden they are keeping him safe. For now.
    3.Russia.
    4. Snowden is somewhat a hero for exposing what the government has been hiding. Now knowing this information I have many more questions. On the other hand leaking information could be a potential threat to us and could also ruin relationships abroad. But, think about EVERYTHING you have ever done on the internet or calls or texts you sent would YOU really want someone else to know that information.

Edward Snowden revealed to the US that the government had been collecting telephone data. He went to Russia seeking asylum. The leaked documents are now in the hands of journalists hand-picked by Snowden himself. I think that he is a hero, because now we know that the government is basically spying on us. I understand that the government is not happy with him, but they are taking away our rights as US citizens. As a US citizen, we have the right to our privacy, and by listening in to certain phone calls and seeing everything we look up on the internet, the government is not allowing us to have this right.

  5. Edward Snowden is the man who leaked some of the U.S.'s secrets and was forced to leave the country. Snowden now lives in Russia because he cannot return to the U.S. The leaked documents that Snowden had were given to specially selected journalists in Russia. Edward Snowden is a hero in the fact that he stood up to something he knew was wrong, but he shouldn't have stood up in such a criminalistic way. The best way I can think of is, he should have gone to Congress or the Supreme Court and tried to get the actions deemed unconstitutional.

  6. Edward Snowden is an intelligence leaker. Snowden now lives in Russia to seek refuge. Snowden gave the leaked documents to handpicked journalists. Edward Snowden is a hero because he gave America what they needed to know. The people should know everything that is going on, especially if the government is eavesdropping in on their conversation.

    1. He is a former NSA contractor who leaked special information.
    2. To seek refuge away from the USA government.
    3. Journalists.
    4. I believe he is a hero in a way. I'm going to relate this back to "Little Brother" by Cory Doctorow in the way that the government hides a lot from the citizens of America. Our privacy continues to be infiltrated by the government. Obviously, Snowden felt what was happening was wrong and risked his job and life by doing something about it and I think that is something a hero has to do.

    1. He is a former contractor for the NSA.
    2. He leaked confidential information about the Agency's actions and reach over the country.
    3. Not Snowden, as he distributed them to journalists that he chose.
    4. Both. He is a hero for blowing the whistle on his own government for tyrannical acts that he had been exposed to, but is a criminal for violating the confidentiality agreement that he had with the NSA.

Edward Snowden is a former NSA contractor. He lives in Russia to seek refuge.
Snowden gave the leaked documents to hand picked journalists. Snowden can be
considered a hero in some eyes for leaking the governments secret of spying on
citizens, and he can be a criminal in the governments eyes for leaking such
    information and having leaked documents.

  12. Edward Snowden who leaks intelligence from the NSA so the whole world can see it. He left Hong Kong last year to seek refuge in Russia. Snowden states that he no longer has any confidential documents and that he has given them all out to journalist that he himself chose to take the documents. Snowden should be considered a hero, the government of the U.S may not see it this way but the people need to know if they are being monitored.

Edward Snowden is the intelligence leaker of the US National Security Agency. He lives in Russia now because he sought refuge there. The handpicked journalists of Snowden's choice have the leaked documents that Snowden was carrying with him. Snowden is a hero and a criminal, he helped people see the truth about our government, but he betrayed his country by doing so. His leaked information might be helping the US find terrorists, murders, and bad people or it might just be the US spying on its citizens. I would need more information to choose if he was a hero or criminal, but right now he is both.

Edward Snowden is an intelligence leaker. He lives in Russia as it is a hiding spot from the U.S. Reporters and journalists Snowden personally picked now have the documents. I believe it is hard to place Snowden as a hero or criminal. In law terms, he is a criminal, but to the public, he could be perceived as a hero for relaying info to Americans.

Edward is an "intelligence leaker" and revealed an extract of an interview with a German television chain. He left Hong Kong so he could seek refuge in Russia. Now, handpicked journalists have the documents that Edward had. Edward could be both but, he is mainly a criminal since he leaked information that wasn't his.

  30. Edward Snowden is a former NSA contractor who last year “revealed” that the United States government was spying on other countries and private citizens’ phone calls and other forms of electronic communications. I put quotes around “revealed “because many people, including myself, already assumed this, especially after 9/11 and the passing of the Patriot Act. He has also revealed corruption in the NSA and recently he revealed that the NSA was using information it obtained for financial purposes. He is currently living in Moscow, Russia. All of the confidential documents he was carrying have been given out to handpicked journalists. Edward Snowden is a criminal for sharing occasional detail, although generally his “big revelations” were very general and expectable. Sharing specific details that would help terrorists avoid detection by the U.S. is aiding the enemy, according to United States Code Section 904- Article 104, since the U.S. is fighting a war on terror.
