Wednesday, December 12th

Pre-AP English 9
After reviewing sentence objects, we spent the rest of our class time discussing the following quote by William Golding:

"It was simply what seemed sensible for me to write after the war when everyone was thanking God they weren’t Nazis. I’d seen enough to realize that every single one of us could be Nazis.”

As a modern parallel to this quote, w then studied about the "Milgram Obedience Study," a social-psychological experiment that attempted to answer the main question that is presented by Lord of the Flies: What makes someone savage?  This is the question that should be kept in mind by students as they read the novel.

Homework: Students need to have Lord of the Flies completed by Tuesday, December 18th, which is when their final unit test will be administered.
