Friday, December 7th

Pre-AP English 9
We were happy to welcome Mrs. Ferguson and Mrs. Sentell in our second block class today, and we were happy to welcome Mr. Huggins into our fourth block class today!  These Duncanville Middle School teachers volunteered to come and watch a Pre-AP lesson in action so that they can make sure that they are preparing their middle school students for the increased rigor of high school linguistic work.  I applaud our middle school teachers for their deep commitment to their students' success!!

During our lesson, we reviewed sentence complements in continued preparation for the final exam.  Afterwards, we began a discussion of post-modern literary thought and learned the background behind William Golding's Lord of the Flies.

Homework:  Students need to have their copies of Lord of the Flies by Monday, December 10th.  Also, they need to finish reading A Separate Peace by Monday, December 10th.

English 10
In today's class, we reviewed subject-verb agreement.  Afterwards, we finished reading Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau and began discussing American Regionalism, Realism, and Naturalism.
