Wednesday, May 8th

Pre-AP English 9
In an effort to explain disillusionment and post-modernism more accurately, we started out today's class by listening to two well-known songs, "Brown-eyed Girl" and "In the Air Tonight."  After asking how many students knew these songs, we discussed the rumored "true meanings" behind the lyrics.  This was to show that when you get knowledge that changes your long-held view of something, you become disillusioned with that "something."  After this demonstration, we started our notes on post-modernism and William Golding.

Homework: The test that was going to be given tomorrow is now going to be given Friday, so students have until Friday to read chapters 1-5 of Lord of the Flies.

Due to a glitch with Google Drive, the PowerPoint notes cannot be uploaded today.  I will try again tomorrow.

English 10
After reviewing semi-colons and colons, we discussed hyphens and ellipses in today's class and did a lot of practice to ensure understanding of these intra-text punctuation marks.  Afterwards, we continued our discussion of American Naturalism.

AHSGE Reading Review
