Friday, May 4th

Pre-AP
One of the main questions that Lord of the Flies is trying to answer is, "What is the origin of evil?"  Golding is very much concerned with behavioral motivation and exploring the above question in a microcosm of childhood innocence.  Other social psychologists have also asked the same question of humanity and have conducted experiments to attempt an answer.  In today's class, we looked at one of these instances, called the Milgram Experiment, and discussed why people behave in the negative way they sometimes do.  We then looked at chapters 4-6 in Lord of the Flies and discussed the chapters' implications to the overall novel.

Homework:  Students need to read chapters 6-8 in Lord of the Flies and be ready for a section test on Monday.  This test will also cover Words of the Day and sentence objects and sentence complements.  For a review on sentence objects and sentence complements, see the "Homework" section of yesterday's post.

AHSGE Reading Review
We continued our study of poetry today, looking at Lord Byron's "She Walks in Beauty Like the Night."
