    2. New York, new jersey
    3. It causes people not to want to volunteer to fight ebola, making eliminating the disease harder
    4. director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, so that they can stop ebola at the source without doctors being reluctant to go to Africa
    5. They cannot afford a breakout of that horrible disease
    6. It strips people of their rights and slows progress in ending ebola
    7. I believe the states should have some power over their quarantine laws however I believe the government should decide the basic rules and guidelines.

    2. New York and New Jersey.
    3. People that around it can easily be attacked with it very easily.
    4. He is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. To be able to check out the people that have it and what it is coming from.
5.He does not think that you can rely on a voluntary support group.
    6. Only a handful of people have gotten Ebola. It Is not an outbreak in the country.
7.The governors. Because, even though the president does have more control and can make decisions as a whole, the governors focus on their state. So, if the governors could decide they would have more specific knowledge about what is happening in their state. Rather than the president looking at it as a whole country.

    3. They say that strict mandates could hamper overall efforts to combat the deadly virus at its epicenter.
    4. Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. So the virus can be contained within Africa and the risk of the virus becoming global is lessened.
    5. He believes that it is a necessary measure to protect the state and the U.S.
    6. Health workers are "indispensable" in the cause to fight this "outbreak."
    7. I think it should be up to the people. After all, this country is a democracy. Cant leave it up to politicians who know that they will get the best treatment money will buy.

    1. Kaci Hickox is a nurse who returned from Sierra Leone and tested negative for Ebola but is being held in isolation in New Jersey. She is apart of the organization Doctors Without Boarders.
    2. New York and New Jersey are getting the most fire for their Ebola quarantine policies.
    3. They feel that it is an extreme and could hamper the overall efforts to combat the deadly virus.
    4. Anthony Fauci is director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He believes that the best way to keep us safe is to stop the epidemic in Africa. He also says that those health care workers are needed and we should not put them in a situation that makes it uncomfortable for them to volunteer in Africa.
    5. He believes that the potential threat of spreading the disease is too great to leave to self-monitoring.
    6. The President's reasoning is that the decisions must be guided by the best medical science and most knowledgeable health care experts. Also, that healthcare workers are an indispensable element of our effort to lead the international community to contain and end this outbreak, and we should not discourage them.
    7. I believe that the governors should be able to make the decisions about this topic because it may vary for different states. I also think that if the decisions made by the governor proves to not be in the best interest then the President should step in, but the decision should ultimately be left to the governor.

  5. 1. Who is Kaci Hickox? Of what organization is she a part?
Hickox returned from Sierra Leone after working with Ebola patients. She was negative and she still has to stay a 21 day-period at home(quarantine). She works with Doctors Without Borders
    2. What two states are coming under the most fire for their new Ebola quarantine policies?
    New York and New Jersey
    3. What reasoning do the opponents of the quarantine procedures give for their opposition?
They want to make sure that any person coming from Africa that has worked with an Ebola patient would not give any symptoms to anyone else. But if you've went to Africa and have not worked with any Ebola patients then you would not have the 21 day offered.
    4. Who is Anthony Fauci? Why does he say that health experts need to be able to go to West Africa with as little hassle as possible?
Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases he objected to quarantine policies. He thinks sending American volunteers to countries affected with Ebola in Africa is important and making people do quarantine at home will effect with helping others with the virus. He think that isn't a very good idea.
    5. Why is Chris Christie so adamant about his state's new quarantine procedures?
Christie agrees with Coumo, he is just a follower
    6. What are President Obama's reasons for condemning the new quarantine measures?
That they shouldnt discourage those who are working to try and to make everything better. The healthcare workers are doing the best thay can and are leading and helping those in need.
    7. When it comes down to it, who do you believe should get to make the decisions about the quarantine procedures, the governors or the president?
I definitely think that the President should be in charge of any quarantine that is restricted among health care workers trying to help patients in any way. If they are negative then yes, leave them alone. We know that Tom Duncan was as well pronounced negtive and then a few days later he had the symptoms, but now im sure that they are much more aware and much more serious of this disease that when they test you for it on the first try, it should either be negative or positive so there wont be any confusion. There health care workers have a life too

    4. director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases SO that the virus is contained in West Africa

    5. He doesnt think we should rely on volunteers to help cure this disease that the government should take action.

    6. The steps they are taking are by the best medical science. To ultimately end the outbreak.

    7. I really think that the senate and house of representatives should make this decesion. This should not be decided by 1 man but by multiple votes.

She is a doctor who volunteered to fight ebola in West Africa with Doctors Without Borders.
    New York and New Jersey.
The virus can only be spread once symptoms are appearing so people should only be quarantined once they become symptomatic.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and infectious Diseases who thinks the easier it is when the volunteers comeback the more volunteers that will go to Africa to fight the disease.
Christie thinks that people will be less likely to quarantine themselves if its voluntary and the government must enforce it so the disease does not spread.
It tends to discourage more doctors from going to Africa because of the hardships they face when returning so the process to come back should be as easy as possible so more doctors will go and fight ebola.
I think it is the governors job to control their states quarantine procedures, the President is overstepping his bounds by trying to tell the governors what they can do.

6.President Obama says the help of our workers can help stop the virus from spreading to the United States and give the workers courage to want to serve and save people.

    7. The President should make the decisions because he is control of the nation and doing what he thinks is best for the country and he says we should not be lead by fear but science but he should hear what the governors have to say because they are closer to the people but they should have a understanding and talk it out and have a compromise.

    5) He believes that a voluntary system cannot be trusted with such a serious disease.
    6) That such measures may and have discouraged people from volunteering to help fight the disease.
    7) Ideally, they should come together and agree. But of course that does not always happen. The president should set some ground rules, but give some freedom to the governors. Ultimately it is the president's decision, because the president can think about the nation as a whole while a governor may only think about his or her specific state.

1.) Kaci Hickox is a medical official through Doctor's Without Borders that is being quaratined because she recently returned from a country exposed by ebola.
2.) The two states coming under the most fire are New York and New Jersey.
3.) They are showing no symptoms and feel it is an invasion of their human rights.
4.) Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious diseases and states West Africa should be easily accesible because the virus needs to be contained in order to erandicate it.
5.) Christie is so adamant about the new quaratine procedures because he feels it will not be properly handled on a voluntary system and should not be left up for chance whether the virus will spread or not.
6.) Obama states that we have to be a leader internationally, taking the sterotypical air that America is the big bully of all the other countries and should dive in to help them at every chance they get, but he also states that the country can not be run by fear so his solution is to ignore Ebola and take it away from the center of attention
7.) The governors should have the decision because we live in a democracy and we can not give all the power to one man but should separate it equally. Obama does not have to live in these regions and does not know how it would affect that said region meaning the governor would have a better judgment on the matter.

    6. Obama is raising concerns as to the process as quarantining people can be seen as over reaction. He seems to believe that alternative ways of screening are more humane than locking somebody into their home for a period of time.
    7. While it would be better for the president to have control as he has the power and references to get info from many professionals as to the best method of quarantine. There is an advantage to if the governors pick their own quarantine methods. As it means each method will be tested and this will show which method works best for containing the disease. which is instead of the entire country using the same method which may or may not work. With varying methods there is a greater chance or multiple states surviving even if others do not.

6.President Obama's reasons for bashing the quarantine policies is that he does not want to offend the nurses and doctor going to help with the outbreak.

5.) Because he believes it is the job of the government to protect the people and he believes the actions taken are necessary.
6.) Because we should be "guided by science and facts and not by fear."
7.) I think the governors should have the right to determine whether their state quarantines or not. I simply say that because the states seem to be taking more precaution to the outbreak than Obama is.

    2. New York and New Jersey's new Ebola quarantine policies are controversial to the public.
    3. They are opposed to the quarantine procedures because it is a 21 day home-based program. The opponents want the patients under quarantine.
    4. Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institue of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He believes we need to we isolate the disease in West Africa, so going their with little hassle would alleviate the problem of getting rid of the disease.
5.Chris Christie is adamant about his state's procedures because he does not want it to spread and become a worldwide epidemic.
    6. He is condemning the new procedures because there is only a handful of people with Ebola. We are acting on impulse and fear as a country and not on science, facts, and logical reasoning.
    7. I believe the President should make decisions on the quarantine process because as of right now the governors are doing a terrible job. If ebola were to spread it would become a national, then worldwide, epidemic. This would make it his job to create the quarantine procedures since it would be covering the nation rather than a few states.

    5. Chris Christie is so adamant about his ideas because he believes that it is the best way to keep the other citizens of the United States from getting it.
    6. Obama makes these statements to show that we need people working for the greater good and to help stop the virus from spreading.
    7. The states should be able to govern themselves the federal government should stay out of it. If the government has a say of their own state it could be prevented a lot more because the president is only one person if he makes a rule for all 50 states then there is no way for all of the states to be happy let the states choose what they want done.

    7. Ebola is a serious issue. The people with it should know that they are trying to protect others there for they should take the precautions of staying home and being monitored if there is a chance they could have it. If the president makes the decisions for the states then that would be micro managing the states which is not what the president is there for. If it is for the whole country then the president, but the governors know their states better and the people better.

    5) He believes it is the best way to keep citizen from getting the deadly disease and passing it around to others.
6)His reasoning is saying that people should not over react because they will stress themselves out and that they will soon find a cure for Ebola.
    7) The governor is responsible for their own states. If the governor makes a decision they are putting themselves in danger as well as the people in the state. I do not feel like the federal gov. should get to much say so because the governor of the state should be able to make reasonable suggestions about the case of Ebola.

    4. Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He wants health experts to be able to go to West Africa with as little hassle as possible so that they can isolate the disease and the problem of getting rid of the disease will be easier.

    6. Obama's reasons for condemning the new procedures is because there is very few people with Ebola. He says that we are acting out of inhumane fear and not logical reasoning.
    7. I believe the President should make decisions on the quarantine procedures because, unfortunately, the governors are acting on impulse and not basing their decisions on scientific fact. If Ebola were to become un-isolated, then it would become an international crisis. This would make it specifically Obama's responsibility to create the quarantine procedures since it would involve the nation rather than several states.

    6. President Obama's reasons for condemning the new quarantine measures are that USA must be guided by the best medical science, as informed by our most knowledgeable public health experts and advised new measurements for returning health care workers.

    7. I think that the governors should make the decisions about the quarantine procedures. Even though the President has more control over it, the governors know more about what's happening in there states when the President is looking at it as a whole.

    4. He is the director for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The easier the process is, the more likely it is that people will volunteer and a treatment will be found.
    5. He is so adamant because he is being overly cautious about the spreading of the disease.
    6. The measures will discourage volunteers from containing the disease.
    7. When it comes down to it, who do you believe should get to make the decisions about the quarantine procedures, the governors or the president? Even though there have been a few isolated cases, this is a problem that concerns the nation, so I think the president and the federal government should take care of this problem because so far, some state officials have been pursuing policies that are not based on concrete scientific facts. They are violating people's constitutional rights and increasing fear and hysteria concerning the disease.
