In today's class, we finished analyzing the last chapters of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Homework: Students need to review all of their material for the TKAM unit test that will be given on Monday, April 22nd.  Also, students need to have their copies of A Separate Peace by Monday, April 22nd.

We watched a biography of Edgar Allen Poe in today's class and read through "The Raven."

Homework:  Students need to study through their notes and literature selections in preparation for the Gothic literature test that will be given on Monday, April 22nd.

In today's class, we had a quick review of irregular verb conjugation and we continued our analysis of the remainder of To Kill a Mockingbird.

In today's class, we reviewed all of the trouble words that we discussed in class yesterday.  If your student is still having trouble with any of the words, a simple google search should bring up practice exercises for him/her to do.  (Ex.  If he/she is having trouble with the difference between using "good" or "well," simply type "good vs. well quiz" into a search engine such as google, and click on the appropriate search result.).

Homework:  Students need to read through chapter 21 in To Kill a Mockingbird by Tuesday, April 16th.

In today's class, we spent most of our time learning how to edit papers and actually editing each others' research rough drafts.

Homework:  Students need to finish their research papers!  All components of the research process are due tomorrow!  Also, students who are presenting tomorrow need to make sure that their presentations are ready to present.

English 10
Today, we spent a majority of our time on grammar, learning the correct usage of several trouble words, along with the different moods that verbs can take.

AHSGE Reading Review
In preparation for the Reading section of the Graduation Exam that will be given tomorrow, we went through a "standards blitz" in class today, covering all of the standards that will be assessed on the exam tomorrow.

Today, we went over in-text citation and bibliographies in detail.  We also discussed any questions that students had about their research papers as they finish up the writing process.

Homework:  Students need to finish writing their research papers.  The final draft and all research components are due on Wednesday, March 20th.

English 10
Today, we discussed six troublesome verbs in class (lie, lay, sit, set, rise, and raise).  We also practiced using them.  Then, we continued our discussion of slavery in early America.

In class today, we discussed passive voice and active voice, before delving into the hypocrisy of the American Revolution.
